Question 1

The picture below shows a snatch theft incident which you witnessed while walking to school. Based
on the picture given, write about the incident for your school magazine.

When writing about the incident, you should:

describe what happened

express what you felt

suggest ways to prevent snatch theft

write between 120 to 150 words.

ACTIVITY 1 – SEQUENCING

Number the paragraphs in the correct sequence according to the pictures to form an
interesting story.

The snatch thief scrambled up and managed to run away leaving behind the
leather handbag. Ah Meng then picked it up and returned it to the lady. The lady
was extremely grateful to Ah Meng as the bag contained a lot of money.

It was a hot afternoon. Sanjit and his bosom friend, Ah Meng was at the

bus- stop which was only a ten-minute walk from their school. They were
heading home after their grueling hockey practice. They had their hockey sticks
with them.

She offered some money to the boys as a token of appreciation. She


thanked the boys for helping her. However, the two brave boys refused to accept
the money. They were glad that they had done a good deed on that day. They
felt very proud of themselves.

Out of the blue, Sanjit saw a motorbike coming towards the bus- stop.
The motorbike came close to the lady and the pillion rider snatched the leather
handbag. Unfortunately, the poor lady lost her balance and fell. At the drop of
the hat, Sanjit hit the pillion rider with his hockey stick while Ah Meng ran to the
lady’s aid. The snatch thief fell onto the road with the bag. As quick as lightning,
the motorcyclist sped off.

There was a pretty young lady who was carrying a leather handbag on
her shoulder. She was waiting for the bus, too. The lady seemed to be impatient
because she had been waiting for a long time.
ACTIVITY 3– TEXT COMPLETION

Read the text and fill in the blanks correctly.
