Who is a good trainer?

People who works passionately to transform others lives and does not considers themselves as
knowledge banks .
Qualities of an Effective Trainer Includes:
 Effective communication skills:
o The essence of the trainer's job is to pass on information to others in order to
help them learn. It means being able to communicate verbally, non-verbally and
standard written. Development professionals must be able to convey
information in a clear and brief manner, and know how to listen. The need to
know when to talk and when to keep quiet, how to encourage others to talk and
how to put a balance to an exchange. They need to know when and how to fake
questions.
 Creativity:
Trainers need to get best out of resources when deciding how to meet the specific need
and what works for a particular project might not be working for another project. The
successful trainers are those who think creatively and think beyond the boundaries and
find a innovative and a cheaper to help and learn people .
 Good organizational, Resource and Time Management :
o Training requires ability to Plan, Organize to help others to do the same find and
make best use of available resources and make the most productive use of the
available time.
 Encourage Engagement :
o There should be two way communication rather than one way man show is what
makes a good trainer, being entertaining ( not necessary ) is a fantastic quality in
a trainer. But getting learns to absorb the skills and technique goes way beyond
the entertainment.
 Approach training strategically :
o A strategic trainer needs to know that training is only effective if it is kept under
cost and delivers a desired return on investment, one of the most important
qualities of a good trainer is the ability to keep a track on the goal without
compromising on training quality. This can be best done through partnering with
various roles in the organizations, such as department managers, operations and
human resources
 Good Instructional Design:
o The ability to design well constructed training modules and build fit for purpose
content is one of the frequent overlooked qualities in a good trainer. A good
trainer needs to design courses which suits best mode of delivery ( face to face,
Online or Blended) and creates a wide variety of material that engages and
motivates all of the learners
