THE STUDY AND ITS BACKGROUND

Background of the Study

Change is constant. Though one may not able to see the change, one can

look back through the course of a year or maybe even a few months and see the

change. Technology has transformed with our culture. There are many benefits for

students with a new advancements of technology, but on the other hand

technology is the reason of the transformation of students’ ingenuity in performing

computer activities.

Technology is becoming a bigger and bigger part of the world today.

Technology has involved and become more central to teaching and learning.

Integrating technology into the curriculum is a priority in a schools. When teacher

first began to use computers in a classroom settings, schools evaluate weather the

use of educational technology had a significant and consistent impact on student’s

achievement. When people hear the word “technology”, computers are the first

thing people think. However, there are many different types of technology other

than computers that can be used students learning. There are different kinds of

content and serve different purposes in the classroom. Such examples as word

processing that encourage communication on writing skills; spreadsheet software

promotes mathematics; data base software promotes organizational skills;

modeling software enhances the application of science skills. It is without question


that the introduction of a new medium of instruction like technology would have an

enormous impact on the traditional classroom.

Technology should be integrated as a tool to promote and extend student

learning on a daily basis. Technology allows students to create research, solve

problem, collaborate, and interact globally. Students that used technology as a tool

or a support for communicating with others are an active role rather than the

passive rule recipient of information by a teacher on reading textbooks. Students

have the ability to learn and express themselves in their individual learning style

too. When technology is introduce into a classroom, things change. Instruction

through computers give student is more control over their learning environments

and access to a wider range of materials to use in the learning process. For

example, students are too confused or embarrassed to as questions because they

don’t want to show their ignorance but with individualized computer instruction,

students can always immediately request help if something is unclear. Computers

in classroom help to make it more interactive. They are extremely effective with

the struggling learners because they have unlimited patience. The computer can

also be used to educate the smarter students who easily get bored in a traditional

classroom since they rich their goal faster. With computers, students that finish a

unit can go to the next one immediately. For these bright students, the challenges

that computers can offer encourage self-directed learning. Also, the use of

technology foster collaboration among students.

The teachers’ role changes as well. Teachers often find themselves acting

more as coaches and less as lecturers. Teachers play the role of facilitator, setting
project goals and spend more time individualizing their instruction. As a result,

students are given much more individual attention due to the nature of some

technologies. There are many research studies validating the benefits of

technology in the classrooms. Classrooms with the use of technology have

students with positive attitudes, and a greater inclination to learn, and an

increasing in student achievement too. Many different types of technology and

interactive learning process can be used to support and enhance learning:

When students see their teacher incorporating new technology and trying

new things, they become more engaged in the process. Technology allows

students to see the whole world as a resource with themselves being in charge of

their destiny. It also benefits students because they have choices and opportunities

to explore and share information to a greater extent than available in a traditional

classroom.

In conclusion, technology is a versatile and valuable tool for teaching and

learning and becoming a way of life. Technology in the classroom is both beneficial

to students and teachers. It creates new ways of obtaining and presenting

information.

Statement of the Problem

This study will be conducted to determine the transformation of students’

ingenuity in performing computer activities.

Specifically, it seeks the answer the following questions:

1. What are the students’ ingenuity in performing computer activities?


2. What are the transformations on students’ ingenuity in performing computer

activities?

3. How does transformation of students’ skills affect their performance in

computer activities?

Purpose of the Study

The study aims to determine the transformation of students’ ingenuity in

performing computer activities of the respondents.

It specifically seeks:

1. To determine the students’ ingenuity in performing computer activities.

2. To identify the transformations on students’ ingenuity in performing

computer activities.

3. To discover the transformation of students’ skills that affect their

performance in computer activities.

Scope and Delimitations of the Study

The study covers the transformation of students’ ingenuity in performing

computer activities.

The respondents of this study will be limited to the Grade-10 Students of

Inarawan National High School.

This will be conducted during second semester of academic year 2017-

2018.
Significance of the Study

Results of this study may be great importance to the following:

Students. This research will help students know their ingenuities transformation

in performing computer activities also they will be aware on how it effects on their

performance in computer activities.

Teachers. They will become more aware on the transformation of students

ingenuity in performing computer activities and also they will find a way or solution

to help them.

Future Researchers. This study will help future researchers on guiding them to

easily start their new research. This will also mean as their basis on creating their

future research.

Parents. This study will help parents to know the innovations or improvement

happens in their children in performing computer activities.

Community. This study will help the community to recognize those changes

happen on students and also this will help community as their foundation in terms

of technological problems.
