ISA AND THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN SCIENCE OF GRADE 7

STUDENTS OF BALINTOCATOC INTEGRATED SCHOOL

ABSTRACT

Keywords: ISA (Interactive Science Activities), Games, Interactive Learning,

Individual Assessment

This study was conducted to test the effectiveness of employing differentiated

activities in Science. Interactive learning is a hands-on approach to help students
become more engaged and retain more material. With or without a form of
technology, interactive learning helps students strengthen problem solving and
critical thinking skills using Descriptive Quantitative Method. The respondents were
the Fifty-six (56) grade 7 students who are enrolled in this subject whose class
schedule is at 8:30-9:30 from Monday to Friday. Grades were tabulated and analyzed
using paired Sample T-test and Eta square. Results showed that the third and fourth
quarter grades of the students had significantly increased as compared with their
second quarter grades This further implied that the differentiated Science Activities is
an effective way in improving the grades and performance of students and is therefore
highly recommended for use by other Science Teachers

ACKNOWLEDGMENT

Action Research is a golden opportunity for learning and self development. I

consider myself very lucky and honoured to have so many wonderful people lead me
through in completion of this research. I would like to express my deepest
appreciation to Almighty and all of those who provided me the possibility to complete
this research.
A special gratitude I give to our Schools Division Superintendent Sir.
FLORANTE E. VERGARA, CESO VI, Sir DANTE J. MARCELO, PhD. CESE,
whose contribution in stimulating suggestions and encouragement, helped me to
coordinate my research specially in finishing this Action Research.
I would like to express thanks to my School Head, Sir MELOZAR F. DIZON
for providing opportunity to conduct this action research and constant
encouragement throughout this research which give me confidence.
I am grateful to all of those with whom I have had the pleasure to work during
this and other related projects. Each of the members of the Division Action
Research Committee has provided me extensive personal and professional guidance
and taught me a great deal about Action Research. I would specially like to thank Mr.
MARFIL A. DULAY, the Schools Division Research Committee. He has shown me,
by his example, what a good Researcher (and person) shall be.
Nobody has been more important to me in the pursuit of this research than
the members of my family. I wish to thank my loving and supportive husband,
JEFFERSON, and my wonderful son, AJ, who provide unending inspiration.
