(CANTON, N.Y.) – The Volunteer Transportation Center, Inc. (VTC) will hold its inaugural
North Country Mac & Cheese Cook-Off this Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Clarkson
University’s Cheel Arena, 8 Clarkson Ave., Potsdam.
Seven teams are expected to participate in this fun and family-friendly activity that will
encourage professional and amateur chefs alike to show off their culinary skills with their best
recipes for macaroni and cheese. Each entry is judged by a panel of local judges and the winner
takes home top bragging rights along with cash prizes.
In addition, a bake sale will be held at the event with those proceeds also benefiting services
provided by the Volunteer Transportation Center for the people of St. Lawrence County.
Admission to the event will be $6 for adults, $2 for ages 12 and younger, and $15 for a family.
This event is a designated Operation Yellow Ribbon event, with a discount on admission for those
presenting a military ID. Discounted tickets to the hockey game will also be offered for $1 each to
those attending the cook-off.
Among additional sponsors, the North Country Mac & Cheese Cook-Off is underwritten by
Fidelis Care, Stewart’s Shops, Watertown Savings Bank and WWNY 7 News/Fox 28/MeTV. Chef
registration fees were waived due to a sponsorship from St. Lawrence County Mobility
Management and Public Transit.

Christine Richardson at (315) 714-2034 or christine@volunteertransportation.org or Foundation
Director Jeremiah S. Papineau at (315) 755-2918 or jeremiah@volunteertransportation.org.
The staff, Board of Directors and volunteer drivers look forward to a time when transportation
to community activities and services is accessible to all North Country residents regardless of
economic or specialized needs. But for now the mission drives on — striving to provide
transportation to health, wellness and critical needs destinations utilizing volunteers and mobility
management for anyone who has barriers to transportation.
