CLIENT-SERVER CONFIGURATION

(1) ROUTER CONFIGURATION (GATEWAY)


1. Reset router
2. Type 192.168.1.1(depends on the IP Address of the Router) to the address bar
3. Type admin for log in and password
4. Select wireless setup/WLAN
5. Change SSID and Password (save And reboot)
6. Click save and close the configuration
7. Try to access the Wi-Fi connection with your mobile phone

(2) PEER TO PEER NETWORK CONFIGURATION (FOR SERVER and CLIENT)


1. Right click my computer
2. Click properties
3. Click Change settings
4. Click change
5. Select COMPUTER NAME (type SERVER/CLIENT)
6. Select WORKGROUP NAME (type CSS)
7. Click Ok, then restart
8. Click network icon on desktop/ My computer then network
9. Select turn on network discovery and file sharing
10. Click yes turn on network discovery in all public networks
11. Press F5 for refresh (SERVER and CLIENT)

(3) FOR SERVER ONLY


Find the LAN Icon on taskbar
Then click the LAN Icon on taskbar
Open the Network and Sharing Center
Click the Local Area Connection
Click the Properties
Click the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP, lPv4)
Click Properties
Click the Use the following IP Address:

IP Address: 192.168.1.2 (or Assigned by the Assessor)


Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: (IP address of the router)

Click Use the following DNS Server Addresses


Preferred DNS Server:192.168.1.2 (IP Address of the Server) Then click OK

(4) ADDING ROLES


a. ACTIVE DIRECTORY CONFIGURATION (ACTIVE DIRECTORY DOMAIN SERVICES)
Click start Menu, Type DCPROMO.EXE on search box
Then click dcpromo.exe
Then Next
Then Next
b. DNS CONFIGURATION
Click the Create a new domain in a new forest:
Then Next
Then type server.local
Then Next

Select on forest functional level: Windows Server 2008 R2

Then Next Then Next


Then Yes
Then Next

Password: Admin 12345

Confirm: Admin12345
Then Next
Then Next
Then check Reboot on completion and wait until your pc restart.

Find the LAN Icon on taskbar


Then click the LAN Icon on taskbar
Open the Network and Sharing Center
Click the Local Area Connection
Click the Properties
Click the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP,IPv4)
Click Properties
Click Use the following DNS Server Addresses
Preferred DNS Server: Change 127.0.0.1 to 192.168.1.2

Then Ok

c. DHCP INSTALLATION
Click the Server Manager from the Toolbar
Click Roles, Click Server Roles
Click Add Roles
Then Next
Click the DHCP Server
Then Next

Then Next

Then Next Click Validate: Take note DNS must be 192.168.1.2(SERVER IP ADDRESS)

Then Next

Then Next
Then click Add
Scope Name: pcnetworking

Starting IP Address: 192.168.1.3


Ending IP Address: 192.168.1.15
Then Ok
Then Next
Then Next
Click Validate
Then Next Then Next
Click Install
Then Close
NOTE: Restart SERVER and CLIENT PC (manually)
d. CREATING USER ACCOUNTS
Click Start Menu
Click Administrative Tools
Click Active Directory Users and Computer
Click "+" server.local
Double click Users
Right click "Users" then "NeW'
Choose "User"

First Name: Jack


Initial: R
Last Name: Martin
Full Name: Jack R. Martin

User Login Name:


jackrmartin@server.local
Then Next
Password: Admin12345
Confirm Password: Admin12345
Uncheck the "User must change password in next login"
Check the "Password never expires"
Remember to Capitalize the First Letter of your Password
Then Next
Then Finish
Then Close
JOINING CLIENT ON THE DOMAIN NETWORK (WINDOWS 7) CLIENT PC
(FOR CLIENT ONLY)
Click Start Menu Right click
Computer
Click Properties
Click "Change Settings"
Click Change
Select the Domain REMOTE DESKTOP CONNECTIONS
1 . Right click My Computer then Click
Properties
Type under Domain "server.local" 2. Click Remote Settings
3.Select Allow Connections from computers running
Then OK any versions of remote desktop
Then OK
User Name: Administrator 4. Click Start Menu then type Remote
Desktop Connections - press enter
Password: Admin 12345 5. Click on search box then type the IP
address of server/client 192.168.1.2 (or

NOTE: CHANGE THE CLIENT SETTINGS BACK INTO WORKGROUP


REMOVING ROLES and Check the Reboot
CONFIGURATION Yes to Restart pc
Click Server Manager
Type DCPROMO.EXE on search box
Click Roles
Then Next
Click Remove Roles
Check Delete
Then Next
Then Next
Uncheck - Active Directory Domain
Check Delete
Password •.Admin12345- DHCP
Confirm Passsword•. Admin12345
- DNS SERVER
Then Next
Then Next
Click Remove
Then Next
Then Close
