For detailed usage of each manual, refer to the INTRODUCTION section in the appropriate manual.

CHAPTERIZATION

The subject matter in the manuals is divided into chapters and groups of chapters to facilitate the location of information by the using
personnel. This chapterization provides a functional breakdown of the entire airplane. Information on all units comprising a system will be
found in the chapter identified by the name of that system or by a general name indicative of the several systems which may be covered in that
chapter.

Thus, all units relating to the generation and distribution of electrical power are covered in Chapter 24, ELECTRICAL POWER, while
electrically driven pumps and valves serving the fuel system are covered in Chapter 28, FUEL. Also, all units of the elevator control system,

LIST OF EFFECTIVE PAGES

2
A list of effective pages is provided for each chapter in printed manuals. The list is a numerical list of effective pages for the chapter and is
located at the beginning of the chapter. The pages are identified in the lower outside corner by the words LIST OF EFFECTIVE PAGES and
are numbered separately starting with page 1. No list of effective pages is provided for microfilm manuals.

NORMAL REVISION SERVICE

Revision service to this manual will be issued frequently. Pages which are revised will be so indicated on the list of effective pages by an
asterisk (*) and identified by both a date and a page code. On each individual page, the revised area is indicated by a revision bar on the left
margin. Those pages which have not been technically revised, but have been reprinted due to recomposition, are so indicated by a revision
bar beside the chapter/section and page number (left-hand page) or date and code (right-hand page).

TEMPORARY REVISION SERVICE

Temporary revisions, printed on yellow paper, will be issued as necessary to provide safety of maintenance or significant maintenance
instructions prior to the next scheduled revision.

Each temporary revision will apply to one subject only and will be keyed within this manual so that the temporary revision will be filed adjacent
to the affected pages.

The Maintenance Manual contains the information necessary to enable the mechanics to service, troubleshoot, functionally check and repair
all systems and equipment installed, in the airplane. It includes information necessary for the mechanic to perform maintenance practices or
make minor repairs to any unit in the airplane normally requiring such action on the line or in the maintenance hangar. It covers the
configuration of the airplanes as delivered to the customer.

This Maintenance Manual does not contain information relative to work normally performed on units or assemblies away from the airplane.

Subject Numbering

The chapters of this manual are broken down into sections and subjects each of which is numbered in a three-part subject-numbering system.
The first number in the three-part subject number is the CHAPTER number and serves to identify the major functional system to which the

subject pertains. The middle part of the number is the SECTION number and serves to identify all of the coverage pertaining to a system,
subsystem, or group of related assemblies, including all units that are functionally a part of the system or group of related assemblies. The last

3
part of the number is the SUBJECT number and serves to identify all information relative to a specific unit, minor assembly, simple system or
simple circuit. For example:

27 - 31

CHAPTER SUBJECT
Flight Controls -O for complete system information
-11 or higher number for individual
component (unit) coverage
SECTION

Elevator & Tab Control System

Complete system information is included in subjects identified by the third part of the subject number being a dash-zero (-O) number. The
descriptions of units which comprise the system or subsystem are also included with the complete system information to the extent necessary
for understanding how they work in performing their function in the system. In those cases where the units are sufficiently complex, additional
description and operation type information is given at the unit level.

Page Identification, which are located along the lower border.

The Tour elements cf. page identification, which are located along the lower border, are:
 Chapter-Section-Subject Number
 Page Number
 Page Date 6
 Page Code Number

The subjects are divided into reasonably small topics and subtopics to enable the user to locate the desired information more readily. The
topics are DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION, TROUBLESROOTING and MAINTENANCE PRACTICES. The subtopics are SERVICING,

4
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION, ADJUSTMENT/TEST, INSPECTION/CHECK, CLEANING/ PAINTING and APPROVED REPAIRS. The page
blocks for these topics and subtopics are as follows:

TOPIC OR SUBTOPIC PAGE BLOCK

DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION 1 TO 100
TROUBLESHOOTING 101 TO 200
MAINTENANCE PRACTICES 201 TO 300
SERVICING 301 TO 400
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION 401 TO 500
ADJUSTMENT/TEST 501 TO 600
INSPECTION/CHECK 601 TO 700
CLEANING/PAINTING 701 TO 800
APPROVED REPAIRS 801 TO 900

Wiring Diagram Manual

The Wiring Diagram Manual contains the information necessary to enable the electrician to troubleshoot, functionally check and repair all
systems and electrical equipment installed in the airplane. It covers the configuration of the airplane as delivered to the customer. The manual
consists of two volumen:

Volume 1 contains the revision record, table of contents, introduction, alphabetical and numerical indexes, equipment list, wiring diagrams and
schematics.

Volume 2 (Chapter 91) contains the master wire bundle charts (which show the locations of the wire bundies, disconnects and their associated
raceways), configuration charts, hand-drawn hook-up charts and information produced by the electronic data processing machine (which
includes the wire list, ground list, splice list, terminal strip list and hook-up charts).

Subject Numbering

The diagram numbering is shown as three sets of two numbers, i.e., 23-21-11.
5
Page Identification

The page numbers 1 to 100 are used to separate changes in effectivity. The first page (Page 1) will show the original configuration. The
second page (Page 2) and on will show various configurations on subsequent airplanes.

The page numbers 101 and on are used for schematics. Page 101 will be used for the original schematic and Page 102 and on for subsequent
airplane configurations.

Illustrated Parts Catalog

General

6
The Illustrated Parte Catalog contains information for use in provisioning, requisitioning, storing and issuing replaceable aircraft parte and units
and in identifying parte.

Subject Numbering

The subject numbering is the same as for the Maintenance Manual.

Index Systems

The Numerical Index le a complete alpha/numerical listing of all part numbers contained in the Detailed Parte List of the Illustrated Parts
Catalog. The index is divided into two sections, Numerical Index-Alpha and Numerical Index-Numeric.

The Numerical Index also displays substitution information on interchangeable standard part numbers.

The Specification Cross Reference Index is divided into two sections and is common to all customers. The first section is titled "Specification
Number Sequence" cross referencing the Boeing specifications to the vendor part number and vendor code.

The second section is titled "Vendor Part Number Sequence" cross-referencing the vendor part number and code to the Boeing Specification.

The Airplane Customer, Manufacturing and Registry Numbers Index relate the effectivity code shown in the Detailed Parts List to the
corresponding airplane effectivity number, manufacturing number and registry number.

The Vendors Names and Addresses Index, with supply codes, is a listing of vendors referenced in the Detailed Parte List and is common to all
customers. The list is arranged in vendor code number sequence.

The Major Drawing Number Index is an indentured breakdown denoting only the major airplane section and system installation drawing
numbers.

Overhaul Manual

General

7
The Overhaul Manual consists of individual subject publications covering the overhaul of components used on Boeing airplanes, together with
descriptive, disassembly, cleaning, inspection/check, repair, reassembly, functional test and parte identification information necessary to
overhaul the part. Included in the Overhaul Manual are engine build-up procedures.

Information contained in this publication covers Boeing-designed or Boeing proprietary items which have been provisioned as "rotable" or
"repairable" items. Parte listing covers the configuration of each assembly as delivered to the customer on the airplane:

This Manual does not contain information relative to work normally performed on the line or in the maintenance operation. Instructions are
furnished to enable an experienced mechanic to rebuild and fully test overhaulable assemblies removed from the aircraft.

Subject Numbering

The first number in the three-part subject number is the chapter number and serves to identify the functional system to which the subject
pertains. The middle number is the section number and serves to group all the individual subjects which are related in a subsystem. The last
number identifies a specific subject and identifies and groups all pages relative to a specific assembly or component.

Structural Repair Manual

General

The Structural Repair Manual contains material identification for structure subject to field repair, typical repairs generally applicable to
structural components of the airplane that are most likely to be damaged; information relative to material substi tution, fastener installation, and
airplane alignment check procedure; and a brief description of some procedures that must be performed concurrently with structural repair,
such as protective treatment of the repair parts. Where repairs are not included in the Manual, it does not follow that the structure concerned is
nonrepairable, but that the application of a typical repair has not been found to be practicable.

Subject Numbering

The material presented in this manual is divided into seven chapters under the following headings: Structures - General, Doors, Fuselage,
Nacelles/Pylons, Stabilizers, Windows and Wings. Information of general nature or information which is applicable to more than one chapter is
included in Chapter 51-00, Structures -General.

8
Each chapter is divided into sections which, in turn, consist of a group of related subjects. Each subject within this manual is identified using a
three-part dash number system. The first number designates the chapter to which the subject belongs, and the second and third numbers
designate the section and the specific subject, respectively, within the chapter. Each subjects starts with page 1.

Structural Spare Parte Identification Document

In the event of major structural damage, the necessary replacement parte can be ordered by means of the Structural Spare Parte Identification
Document. The document includes illustrations of all major airplane structural components. Structural spare parts may be ordered by
identifying the required members by shading on the appropriate sheet of the document and forwarding the marked sheet to the Boeing Spare
Parts section.

Illustrated Tool and Equipment List

General

The Illustrated Tool and Equipment List provides descriptive information, illustrations and explanations of the use of all Boeing-designed tools,
ground handling equipment and test equipment recommended by Boeing to facilitate the servicing, maintenance and overhaul of the airplane
and the Boeing-designed components installed on the airplane.

Subject Numbering

Classification of tools and equipment is according to the System/Chapter and Subsystem/ Section arrangement. Omissions in the numerical
sequency of chapters and sections indicate no tool requirement, beyond standard shop tools, exits. Pages are numbered consecutively within
each section.
