MARKET VIABILITY

DEMAND FOR GRADUATES

Filipino accountants are globally recognized and in demand and can meet today’s requirements.

Singapore, Malaysia, Japan and our own country need accountants who are Fluent in the English

Language and Filipinos can absolutely fit the positions; also accountants are not constrained to

accounting jobs only since they are also familiar with business processes; they may be tapped into

utilizing their know-how in cross functional roles like information Technology security audit,

software implementation, business process improvement and other likes.

According to Rea Cu of the Business Mirror, “The Board of Accountancy (BOA) of the Professional

Regulatory Commission recognizes the need for an increase in the number of Filipinos who take up

accountancy, in line with the increase in the demand for the profession not only in the Philippines, but

also in other countries.”

According to oojema.com, in a report by the BusinessMirror, there is a shortage of Filipino certified

Public Accountants (CPAs) against an increasing demand for more of these professionals in the next

coming years. Only 7,500 to 8,000 accountants are getting certified each year in the Philippines and

most them are looking forward to work in abroad.

There is a small supply and the demand is high for accounting jobs in the Philippines. According to

Jobstreet, financial jobs are 4 in Top 10 highest-paying jobs in the Philippines for 2017 for those with

1-5 years job experience.

According to the most recent Monster Employment Index (MEI), the consumer goods, hospitality,

health and care and IT sectors recorded the highest jumps in demand between the months of April

2018 – April 2019 in the Philippines; HR and Admin, Finance and Accountancy, Logistics and

Marketing careers records significant positive growth as well at 12%-19% percent and up. The MEI is

the gauge of online job posting activity compiled monthly by the Monster.com, one of the leading

career and recruitment platforms which records and shows the highest and lowest growth in the

recruitment activity in the Philippines.

“The job market reported a stable momentum despite the 2%-5%percent growth in the 1st quarter of

2019, and with the ongoing trade war and other economic headwinds business will remain cautiously

optimistic’” said Abjijeet Mukherjee, CEO of Monster.com for Asia Pacific and Middle East.

Below is a forecasted trend of the demand for the Number of Accountants needed in our industry.
