Statement of Purpose
Lovepreet Kaur(XXXXXX@gmail.com)
A caring attitude, who respects the dignity and the moral wholeness of every person without
conditions or limitation; a good listener, who has the ability to listen to their clients and peers;
a flexible and forward thinker, who is honest about her own strengths and look for the work
environment that supports those ideas. Adapting such traits were nevertheless a learning
knowledge for anybody but how to uphold such characteristics as a daily part of your life
makes the nurses most successful in this civilized world.

With this strong belief in my mind, I Lovepreet Kaur, a living resident of Morinda, Ropar
(Punjab) has done her Bachelors of Nursing from Baba Farid University of Health Sciences
in June 2016 scoring an aggregate of 59 percent marks. I have cleared my Higher Secondary
and Senior Secondary Examination from Punjab School Education Board.

“Doctors Diagnose. Nurses Cure”

Taking the motivation from the above saying, I was very keen and eager to enhance my
practical knowledge of the patients. Therefore after my graduation, I joined one of the
prominent hospitals in Punjab named as Amrit Hospital, Amritsar under the capacity of a
Registered Staff Nurse. There I practiced my skills under Dr.Harjinder Singh Sandhu
(M.B.B.S and M.S) specialized in Consultant Laparoscopic Surgeon. I have also got the
Registration Certification in Punjab Nurses Registration Council and have been admitted as the
Registered Nurse and Midwife under the provisions of Section 14 of Punjab Nurses
Registration Act 1932. I served my patients in the Hospital from 01/12/2016 to 31/01/2019
working 48 hrs a week getting a package of 180,000 Rupees annually. There I enhanced my
skills in –

a) Assessing the patient on the basis of physical and mental conditions.

b) Performing the basic invasive testing prescribed the doctor.

c) Operate and monitor medical apparatus or equipment.

d) Assist Endoscopy, E.E.G., E.C.G., and ECHO.

e) Maintain a clean and healthy environment for the patients.

f) Teaching and supervision of new staff and student nurses.

During that span, I was found to be sincere, polite, reliable, sociable and open to challenges
appreciated by all the doctors, staff nurses and the helpers working in the hospital.

A girl who is inspired from her retired Military father and her mother as a retired government
teacher, wants to expand her horizon of knowledge in the nursing field; who wants to serve the
mankind with her utmost care and understanding behavior; is looking to pursue her further
education of Graduate Diploma in Nursing from one of the prestigious institutes across the
world, famously known as Institute of Health Management, Australia. In order to fulfill the

Considering overseas studies as the best option for me because our Indian education system
still focusses more on theory rather than practical. It does not allow creativity whereas in
foreign countries they focus more on practical based approach which promotes creativity in
education. Moreover in India, education is becoming business. Talking of privatization of

education to tuitions and coaching institute; education is generating good money. So business
minds are now moving towards education which reduces the quality of education in every
institute of our country. Australia focusses more on sports; they have cricket, hockey, and
boxing in their college curriculum. Whereas Indian education system only emphasizes on
studies. There is no room for extra-curricular in our education system.

After doing the analysis and research of all the prominent institutes present in Australia, I have
chosen the Institute of Health and Management for my future learning curve. This institute
has a separate Board of Governors which allows the smooth functioning of the system running
across the institute. They carry out their responsibilities through a stewardship role and
delegates the day-to-day management of IHM to the senior management team of organization
governance and organizational committees. It also has the Academic board which ensures that
the academic activity is promoted and conducted as the primary activity undertaken IHM. This
board encourages the development and maintenance of high standards of teaching, learning,
and scholarship.

IHM has also been approved as an Australian Higher Education provider by the Australian
government of agency TEQSA. In addition, three exciting postgraduate courses have been
accredited: Graduate Certificate in Nursing, Graduate Diploma in Nursing and Graduate
Diploma in Nursing (Specialisation – Paediatric Nursing) which makes IHM offer flexible
learning opportunities for health care professionals. An average salary of a nurse completing
Graduate Diploma in Nursing course is approximate 55,000 – 65,000 $ per year.

After completing this course, my next goal is to come back to my home country and join one
of the leading Hospital chains such as Apollo Hospitals, Fortis Healthcare, Columbia Asia
Hospitals, Global Hospitals, etc. and will get recruited on the well-paid profiles such as:

a. Clinical Nurse Specialist

b. Case Manager
c. Nurse Educator
d. Health Service Manager
e. High-Intensity Therapist
f. Head Nursing Services

After achieving this much level of expertise, I can grab any of the above positions and can earn
an average package of 5-6 Lacs per annum. Another goal that I want to accomplish is to
educate young minds of our country with my expertise in Nursing field so that in today’s world
no person or patient would get isolated from the proper treatment and care provided in the
hospitals.

I hope to receive a positive revert regarding my application, thanking you for giving me this
opportunity.
