0 ABSTRACT

The 3 subject had been chosen to perform the Wingate test. The performance of the
subject on anaerobic test by looking on all the three type of anaerobic which is anaerobic
power, capacity, and fatigue. The performance also looked from the power subject
produce between every 5 second until finished it. From that can determined of anaerobic
capacity and anaerobic fatigue. By collecting all the data from all the subject,
comparison can be made.

2.0 INTRODUCTION
The Wingate test was developed in the 1970s is designed for measuring
anaerobic power and capacity of body can sustain it. There are many variation test had
been performed to see in term of different performance qualities and to make this test
more variable for many population.

Wingate test is anaerobic test that needed cycle ergometer to perform it. Cycle
ergometer have many type but usually Monark cycle ergometer always be the favourite
to performed the test. This test require the subject to use maximum effort to cycle within
30 seconds. All the data will be taken by examiner by using the specific computer that
designed to Wingate test

By using this method, the person’s peak anaerobic power, anaerobic fatigue and
anaerobic capacity can be measure. This laboratory test can give actual result, so
analysis data from the result will be exactly perfect true either the person have high or
low in term of anaerobic in their body.

There are type of anaerobic which is anaerobic power, anaerobic fatigue and
anaerobic capacity. In term of anaerobic power, its ability which adenosine triphosphate
of short form of ATP-PCr that work for produce the energy. ATP-PCr is stored in muscle
and will used by the person during mechanical energy converted ATP to ADP which is
adenosine diphospate. Peak anaerobic power will generated during 3-5 second interval
of the test because of acceleration and using of full effort of the person
Then anaerobic capacity determined by the total amount of work during 30
seconds of cycling on cycle ergometer. Main energy system in this test consist of ATP-
PCr and glycolytic system. The duration within 30 second determined the energy system
the person used it. Usually the first 15 second, ATP-PCr will be used and continued by
the glycolytic system

Anaerobic fatigue or the other name is fatigue index is determined when

decreasing in power compared with the peak power output. Increases of fatigue index
make the person or the subject lower anaerobic performance

3.0 OBJECTIVE

The Wingate Laboratory test is cycle test of anaerobic leg power that performing
exactly 30 seconds. By used the 3 student of University Technology Mara to performing
Wingate test is to measure amount of anaerobic power of their lower body. Then by
collecting all the data, comparison for both of the subject can clarify by analysis their
completed result.
4.0 EQUIPMENT

NO. Equipment Used

1.
 Name : Cycle Ergometer
 Used : The primary
equipment needed to
performing the Wingate
test. It is measure power
while cyclist pedals
against resistance. Its
evaluate the score by
connected with
computer to calculate
the data.
2.
 Name : Weight scales
 Used : It is to measure
the subject weight.

3.
 Name : Stopwatch
 Used : take time for 30
second of performing
Wingate test.
4
 Name : Computer and
testing software
 Used : every data
analysis of the subject
will be collecting by this
computer
5.0 PROCEDURE

1. Calculate body mass (kg)

a) Participant must be weighed in lightweight clothing with shoes and

accessories removed.

2. Calculate the ‘test weight’ (kg)

a) The ‘test weight’ is 7.5% of the participant’s body mass.

b) Test weight (kg) = body weight in kg * 0.075

3. Warm-up

a) Start cycling – The subject must cycle at 60rpm for 3-4 minutes at 60W
(females) or 90W (males). In other words, all participants (against
resistance; male: 1kg or female: 1.5kg) should cycle at 60rpm.

4. Starting the test

5. The participant should begin cycling at 60rpm. (10-seconds with no weight)

6. The test administrator should count down “3 – 2 – 1 – GO!”

7. On the “GO” signal, lower the test weight basket and the subject should begin
to accelerate maximally and try to maintain maximal speed throughout the entire 30-
second test. Note: Test administrators must provide verbal encouragement
through the test.

8. The test administrator must countdown the final 3-seconds of the test “3 – 2 – 1
– STOP”. Once the test is over, some subjects may react to the previous exertion.
To reduce any problems, the subjects must stay on the ergometer, cycling at 60- 80rpm
without any resistance, for at least 2-3 minutes. If the subject feels ill or pale, they
should get off the bike and lie down with their feet resting on a chair.

7.0 DISCUSSION

This result show that the comparison on graph showing the performance of subject
which are 3 people that have been choose. The graph show between the rate of power (watts)
and by following the time taken that have been set. The performance’s analysis will be
determined by time taken and rate of power .

Total power drops will be determined by difference of first 5 second and last 30 second.
There are 3 subject that participate in this lab test which is Aidil, Muhaimin, and Raja that have
different for each total power drop. Total power drop for aidil is 390, Muhaimin is 444 and last
subject is Raja which is total power drop is 125

The result show as we can see at the graph rate of power will decrease when prolong
time. For examples, Aidil’s power is up to 865 watts and slowly decrease after 10 second.
During 10 second, normally our body use ATP energy. It will give absolute power because
oxygen consumption is that stage is low. After 10 second, performance will slowly decrease
because body use phosphate creatine (PC)

Rate of fatigue between these 3 subject is first person 55.35%, second 97.89% and the
last person 56.40%. every subject have different of fatigue depend on their fitness. Also the total
work from this 3 subject is first 19.843 (Kj) second 15.057 (Kj) and last person 8.511 (Kj).

The perfomance and their fitness can be developed by doing suggested exercise in
order to increase from time to time. But before doing the exercise the important thing must we
know such as the bmi of the person for easy to do exercise that suitable for person. Every
person have different biomechanical. Exercise suitable for increase the rate of power of the
person such as plyometric exercise, HITT exercise, Cross fit and others.
