Lesson Plan – Behavioral Based Safety Training Course

Subject: Behavioral Based Safety Training Course

Duration: 4 hour/ 8 hour

Target Audience: Client nominated employees

Description: In a classroom environment students will be informed in

recognizing the impact of each employee’s behavior and ensure that the
rest of the team demonstrates exemplary safety behavior.

Instructors will conduct the theory classroom session with a fifteen minutes
break. Instructors will engage participants in role play to show the
importance of behavior based safety raise the awareness of participants.

Goals:

 To ensure that all workers & visitors practice good safety, and to
know the impact of each employee’s behavior and ensure that the
rest of the team demonstrates exemplary safety behavior.
 To correct unsafe behavior using a coaching style of conversation.

Procedure:

 In the HSE Classroom instructors will discuss the rules and regulation
being implemented by the CHSE and the Basic Behavioral Safety by
utilization of power point lecture.

 CHSE Basic Behavioral Safety Point Presentation.
Instructor Objectives

 Provide handouts for students – encourage class participation as

these are the tools that are utilized to convey the pertinent
information of their day to day task.
 Present Power Point presentation
  Encourage student participation. If they are participating they are
paying attention.
 Present quiz.
 Request evaluation / feedback from students in order to possibly
better the presentation.
Lesson Introduction

 Introduce the course in a way that the student acknowledges that the
information in this course is for their benefit and protection for all
employees.
Lesson Objectives

Students upon completion of this class will be able to:

1. Recognize unsafe condition and unsafe act.

2. Correct unsafe behavior using a coaching style of conversation.
3. How behavior plays important role in day to day work activities.

Materials:

 The use of the CHSE Basic Behavioral Safety ppt.

 Examples of project hazard cards / reports.

Lesson Assessment and Comments:

Use of in class feedback discussion from the students at the end of the
training session and the use of the course evaluation form to be filled out in
the classroom training session.
