We have a society now where obedience to the law is really a choice, an option only.

That’s why there

is a huge growth of crime in our country. In fact, the Philippines is ranked 68 with highest crime index
among 123 chosen countries according to numbeo. Even before Rodrigo Duterte sits as president, the
country has been witnessing increase in crime, especially those involved with drugs, murder, rape,
human trafficking, and terrorism that are threat to human lives. Since society has the highest interest
in preventing horrendous crimes, it should use the strongest punishment available and nothing will
deter a criminal than the fear of death. Death penalty will also give a fair justice to the families of the
victims as they struggle everyday feeling every bit of excruciating pain brought about by those
criminals. People do not know what they need to go through just to move on and let the incident past
behind them. After committing a crime, those criminals are put behind the bars. To "house, feed, and
guard" them, government will spend almost P10.1 billion a year, imagine what we can do to P10.1 B,
with death penalty, we can lessen our expenses and focus more on other important things like
education. Imagine living in a world in which the only form of punishment was being locked in a cage.
Criminals would learn nothing from their mistakes and when released, who knows what these
unchanged people would do. Not everyone changes in prison, some just become worse. Without the
death penalty, criminals would become careless and fearless, and they would commit horrible crimes
over and over again. Yes, death penalty is not a solution to all of criminalities in our country but it is a
one step forward towards having a better and peaceful nation. As the bible says

Let’s bring back the time of Martial Law. When someone says Martial Law, the first thing that comes
to most people’s mind is the unceasing violence. But when the Martial Law was implemented, the whole
country became extremely disciplined. One notable change that the Filipinos would never forget was
the strict observation of curfew. Just walk along the sidewalk past the curfew time and the police would
make some disciplinary actions. That is why once the curfew time starts, the streets are as quite as a
mouse and everybody is stuck in their respective homes, safe and sound. With this strict policy, crime
rates totally went down. In fact, during the time of Marcos, cases of murders, theft and other similar
offenses became so rare since the military was visibly present and on guard all the time. This kind of
discipline, although bad in its nature, has given Filipinos the opportunity to compare what it was before
and what it is now. If people compare the kind of discipline the Filipinos experienced during the Marcos
regime to the present, the big difference might just make one think again. Truth be told: Filipinos of
today have become extremely undisciplined. Martial law is like death penalty, if implemented people
will think twice before doing heinous crimes. The Filipinos will be more disciplined and will prevent
future criminals especially drug lords or pusher, murderers and rapist. As the bible says

“Whoever sheds the blood of man,

by man shall his blood be shed,
for God made man in his own image.

Genesis 9:6
.

Martial Law proclamation would mean that peace is the main goal so that it will provide a measure for the
society to live in peace. All society want peace in their community because they want to have the chance to
elevate their socio-economic lifestyle. The leader must have to do an immediate action so that their community
will be free from any sorts of disturbances that might risk the state of peace that their people are currently
enjoying it.
