MGSE9-12.G.MG.1 Use geometric shapes, their measures, and their properties to describe objects

(e.g., modeling a tree trunk or a human torso as a cylinder).

MGSE9-12.G.MG.3 Apply geometric methods to solve design problems (e.g., designing an object or structure to
satisfy physical constraints or minimize cost; working with typographic grid systems based on ratios).

Brief Description of Learning Experience: This lesson plan in an extension of the online learning project.
Once they have finished the project, the students will get on the blog reading the question posed about ho
we can use Geometry outside of the classroom and then they will have to write a reflective response on
what they think and respond to two other classmates about their ideas.
This project will take about two days. They will pick an everyday problem to solve using Geometry and
then they will create a project, or report on how they solved the problem by using what dimensions or
formulas and why. This will probably take a day and a half and then their reflection post will take a little
less that half a day to complete. The reflections will only be applied to the students in my classroom.
However, their project they produce will be a useful too to anyone. The teacher will then reflect on the
evaluations from their students and reflect on the lesson as a whole.

Remembering Understanding Applying Analyzing Evaluating Creating

Student Engagement/Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): This lesson reaches a Loti level four
because it is integration. Technology is used to address specific content standards and students are asked to
reach a higher level of Bloom’s Taxonomy like creating and analyzing. The students choose their own
problem, then are asked to solve that problem, and explain how the solved it to the rest of the class.

Importance of technology: Using blogs is a great tool for this activity because the class material will
always be available to them inside and outside of the classroom. This assignment could have been done
without technology; however, more effort would have had to be put forth on the teacher’s part to produce
this engaging lesson. Plus technology is a huge part of people’s lives to day and students like to use it for
learning when then can.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: This activity requires students to post on the teachers blog. This
means that the students wont be communicating with anyone outside of the classroom. Which significantly
reduces the issues that arise while using the internet. For the rest of it, the teacher will make sure they are
following the safety guidelines from FERPA and CIPA.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. I would like for my students to be able to further
their learning by being able to communicate with fellow classmates and the outside of the classroom. I hope
this will help student learning by my students having constant support and feedback whenever they might
need it.
