I. Objective
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
A. Explain the importance of persuasion;
B. Identify the three appeals used to defend an argument or claim;
C. Feel involved in the discussion of a reading selection developed by persuasion,
D. Write a full-blown essay using persuasion as the primary mode of paragraph development.
FLOW TASKS
A. Activity 1. The class will be grouped into three
according to pictures shown each group will
provide possible conversations on the picture
shown.
B. Analysis 1. The teacher will show more pictures and ask
some questions for further exemplification and
illustration.
2. Students will look closely on the pictures and
analyze that there are three appeals used to
defend an argument depending on the three
types of readers/audience.
C. Abstraction Students will be grouped to answer each
question.
1. What are the three appeals used to defend
an argument?
2. Cite examples of day-to-day activity we use
logos, pathos and ethos?
3. How will these three appeals help one to
read and write effectively?
D. Application 1. Students will read an article entitled “Phase
Out the Obsolete Jeepney” by Neal H. Cruz
and find out which appeal/s was/were used.
They will later answer a 10-item quiz.
