Software images:

Please note that there are two binary files. Use the correct one for the type of Access Point. The bin filenames
are:

• XR320-8.4.2-205.bin – this is the binary file for the XR-320

• X2120-8.4.2-205.bin – this is the binary file for the X2-120
Supported Hardware

• All XR-320 and X2-120 Access Points.

Upgrade Recommendations

• It is recommended that you upgrade the firmware via XMS-Cloud or XMS-Enterprise. If you use XMS-Cloud,
your Access Points will be upgraded automatically.
• As an alternative, and only if you don’t use XMS-Cloud, you can manually update the Firmware via SSH CLI,
see Appendix [A] for details.

New Features and Enhancements in AOS Lite 8.4.2-205

• Reliability and performance improvements to reduce reboots, and reduce CPU and memory overloads.
• Bug fixes.

Issues Resolved (From 8.4.1-185 to 8.4.2-205)

Element Description of Issue

Application 18948 - Using Application Control rule to block WhatsApp traffic now works.
Control
WLAN 19172 - Changing the cell size on a radio from large to smaller, also changes the silence value.

19200 (Ghost SSID) – AP no longer beacons a “ghost” open SSID, even though SSIDs are
WLAN configured for PSK security. AOS Lite now ensures that DNS resolution of RADIUS server URL
occurs early enough to prevent the problem.

19274 – DropBear SSH vulnerability was fixed by upgrading to v2017.75. Per CVE-2016-
SSH
7407, versions 2016.74 or higher avoid the problem.
Issues resolved in 8.2.4 also

WLAN Fix for XR-320s rebooting constantly with watchdog resets.

WLAN 19136, 19146, 19172 - corrects major errors in the silence (noise floor) value.

WLAN 19135, 19145 - corrects major errors in the calculation of RSSI & SNR (signal to noise ratio).

WLAN 19177 - applies patches for KRACK issue (from http://w1.fi/security/2017-1/).

XR-320 LAN
negotiation. (TKT-00099752)

Known Issues in 8.4.2-205

Element Description of Issue

Heavy Load 18701 - AOS Lite Access Points report offline when the CPU is under heavy load.
18945 - Gig port DHCP stops sending Discover Packets when no response from DHCP
DHCP
Server.
X2-120 DNS 19054 - X2-120s intermittently not able to resolve DNS.
19096 - Need to implement airtime fairness to avoid stations losing connectivity when other
XR-320 WLAN
stations are using up more bandwidth

Limitations and Conditions of 8.4.2-205

Element Description of Issue

<Per-SSID QoS>, <802.1p Mapping> and <Packet Filter Classification> do not work on 5GHz
5 GHz WLAN
radios.

Device Policy Supports a maximum of 8 device-classes.

Wireless stations associated with the same SSID of 5GHz radio can access each other even if
SSID different VLAN IDs are dynamically assigned to them. You may use the Station-to-Station
Blocking function as a workaround.
X2-120 When upgrading from v7.7.0-63 or older releases, a system reset is required.

X2-120 The STP function has been disabled and removed from the X2-120 releases after 7.8.4-100.

AOSL devices might not obtain an IP address from DHCP after power up if the DHCP server is
DHCP
not up yet. Please reboot devices or bring up DHCP server in advance;
