II. LESSON DEVELOPMENT

A: WARM-UP: (Timing: 5 minutes)


Teacher (T) asks students (ss) to watch the video (Kenan and Kel: Futurama) in order to
answers two questions, ss should take notes:
- Is the video set in the past or in the future?
- What's different with our present?
Then, T asks ss to report their answers with the whole class. Now the T introduces the
topic: Modals for Future Possibility.
B: PROCEDURES (Timing: 25 minutes)

ACTIVITIES INTERACTION

Pre-teaching activity: T takes short time to explain the three modals (may, T-ss
might, could) and their use, by using the previous warm-up activity.
Prompt: In the future, we ___(may/might/could) have____(e.g.: robots)
Time: 5 minutes

Book: activity B T-ss


T asks one ss to read instructions, then does comprehension check. T ss-ss
models the first exercise. Ss work first individually and the compare
answers with their partners. Later, T asks them to report answers for their
correction in class. Prompt: What do you put in number 1? I put____
Time: 5 minutes

Book: activity C T-ss


T asks one ss to read instructions, then does comprehension check. T ss-ss
models the first exercise and help the ss to transform each sentence in a
question. Ss work in pairs using the questions in the board and the modals
learned. Later, T asks them to report answers for their correction in class.
Time: 5 minutes

Post-activity: T-ss
T explains instructions for the last activity: Ss work in two groups, using ss-ss
cards. First each group must pick a place where they want to go on a trip,
e.g.: Brazil. Each card has an item (e.g.: camera) that the ss will pick
randomly to create sentences on the board.
Prompt for the model: I will take a _camera_, because I _might_ take
some photos.
If the ss’s sentence is correct, the ss can keep the card. The ss with more
cards win.
Time: 10 minutes
