Statement of Purpose

The earliest memories of my childhood consist of seeing off my grandfather and

father to office. Wide-eyed, eager to step into their shoes, that feeling has remained
unchanged over the last twenty-one years. With each passing year, the ardent
desire to stand on my own feet and do something creative has only grown.
Interning at Flash Electronics India Pvt. Ltd. for two months has whetted my
passion for entrepreneurial adventure. I look at the Master’s in Management
Program at Imperial not only as a means to achieving my goal, but more as a life
changing experience.

Malcolm Forbes said, “Education's purpose is to replace an empty mind with an

open one.” I believe that Imperial concurs with Forbes and have designed their
programs with the goal of opening up the human mind to the endless possibilities
that exist in today’s open economic environment. Trade between nations is at an all
time high and it is the one means of bringing nations closer together. It is the
stepping-stone to eliminating conflict and if applied correctly, without using
another, it has the potential of creating a truly global society. Imperial, belonging
to the best in British education, is the perfect stepping-stone for me to realize my
goals. The Master’s in Management Program can be looked upon as the best
opportunity to attain theoretical as well as practical knowledge. This will be my
weapon to unravel the enigma of the unknown, propelling me to take up new
challenges fearlessly. Application based learning being a salient feature of the
Master’s in Management Program will certainly provide me with the ability to
tread uncharted territory. Those, who have the courage to think differently and are
willing to acknowledge their weaknesses, today define the world and it is this
learning that Imperial seeks to foster in its graduates. I strongly feel your
curriculum for me, is an instrument of learning, realizing and applying in order to
transcend personal limitations.

London, being one of the financial capitals of the world attracts professionals from
all over the globe and British institutions, in collaboration with the business world
have designed curriculums to equip business leaders of the future. The faculty at
Imperial drawn from the best of business and academia bring both experience and
knowledge together and prepare graduates to handle an ever-changing global
scenario. Interaction with students from all over the world will open new vistas of
the unexplored and learning together will only allow us to, not only understand
each other, but also establish ties, which will enable one to partner in global trade.

I have always wished to explore the world from multiple perspectives and chart out
a path where I am able to achieve my dreams of being a consummate entrepreneur
and continue learning. This love of continuous learning has been instilled in me
because of my father’s. I see the secret of his success in business being, his
unceasing striving for excellence. It is often said that in today’s dynamically
changing world, the two keys to success are “management of change and resilient
leadership”. It is imperative that in the globalized age we live in, I have to avail
myself of the right kind of training and knowledge and it is this need that motivates
me to apply to the Imperial Business School.

Coupled with the strong analytical skills and sense of logical reasoning acquired
through my schooling and interning in the financial department at Flash
Electronics, I have come to a realization that before one aspires to conquer the
world, the self must be tamed. The real and true aspiration is to raise the bar of
personal performance.

Nurtured to lead from the forefront as the house captain of Mater Dei School, I
received my formative lessons in team building. Being a team player I believe in
tapping into people’s strengths to remain focused on the goal. Participating in
various co-curricular events, I was tutored at the art of persevering for perfection.
These opportunities became instrumental in the addition of attributes such as
amiability and adaptability, to my personality. My ability to work diligently and
meticulously in order to meet deadlines makes me a strong contender for a seat at
Imperial. Brought up in a culture, which finds its roots in harmonious community
living, I have grown up to understand that contributing to society is of paramount
importance for personal achievement. Working in close collaboration with an NGO
‘Swechha’ to teach underprivileged children, I have stepped forward to internalize
the symbiotic relationship between man and society. An achievement I am proud
of is my commitment to music. I am a recipient of the Trinity Guildhall certificates
from Trinity School, London.

I truly believe that I am knocking at the doors of a University, which will provide a
sound platform to enhance my management skills. I am confident that Imperial will
chisel skills and sculpt a global citizen out of me. Equipped with the conviction of
acquiring the best of knowledge and experience, I humbly stand committed to
prove myself worthy of your esteemed institution and will always strive towards
excellence and prove myself a worthy alumnus.
