Description:

1.There is a possibility that the return fuel could become black in color because engine oil is used for
lubrication of the fuel injection nozzle.
This is not abnormal.
Please explain to your customer as outlined in this news.

2.About black colored fuel (See the attached material)

The fuel injection system of this engine, supplies a small amount of engine oil to the fuel from the
engine to prevent the injector plunger from seizing, the intent is to improve the reliability and the
durability.

Therefore the fuel in the tank may become black in color due to some fuel being passed from the
injector return to the fuel tank.

This is not abnormal.

Please explain to your customer as outlined in this news.

1.Structure of HPI fuel injection equipment

The right drawing shows the injector.
This is install in the each cylinder head.
The plunger in the injector moves up and down and the fuel is injected.

The fuel injection system of this engine supplies a small amount of engine oil in the fuel
from the engine side to prevent the injector plunger from seizing and causing a failure.
The intent is to improve the reliability and durability of the injector.
The seal A is added to the injector for control of oil volume.

2.The influence of the black fuel on the engine Plunger

There is no influence of the black fuel on the reliability and the durability
of the engine.
And the life of the fuel filter does not change.
Oil consumption against fuel consumption in the injection system is
0.015% Max.

3.Answer (explanation) for your customer

If you are asked about the black fuel and the influence on the engine,
You should not confirm the color of the return fuel.
You should confirm the engine condition.
(The exhaust gas color and the oil consumption etc.)
And you should provide the proper answer.

The condition of the fuel color changes by the fuel volume in the tank,
the kind of fuel and the kind of oil.
Please explain to your customer that it is difficult to judge the mixing volume
of oil or the abnormality of the engine by the fuel color.
