Eateries along Maginhawa Street”
BG OF THE STUDY
Erika: Business is an organization that sells goods
and services. According to investopedia Owning a
business is beneficial since it supports the financial
needs of an individual. Also, having a business
may be more satisfying to a person as they do not
work for anyone. On the other hand,
Microenterprises are the small businesses. A good
example of microenterprises is an eatery where
people can be served food. Usually, the owners of
the eateries are the ones personally managing the
business and its operation. Doing so makes them
know every detail of their business thus can give
more insightful information regarding the study
being conducted.
Carla: Location is one important factor when one is
planning to put up a business as it could determine
whether the business would be successful or not. It
is necessary for business owners to have a good
plan on where exactly would they establish their
business because when it is not properly planned,
re doing the process would be risky and costly to
do.
Fiona: Location preference is one of the factors
that may increase the income of the business. For
instance, when a business like an eatery is located
at a convenient area like near school or in highly
populated places, the tendency is that more
customers would go in resulting the business to
increase its income.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
Erika: The study would be beneficial to the People
who are interested in starting up a business. In a
way that they would already have insights
regarding the factors affecting one’s business and
may be used by them in the future as their
reference.
Fiona: The researchers believe that the study
would be beneficial on the business community by
gaining an insight on the relevance of location on
the success of the business.
Carla: this study would also be of help to the
owners as they should be careful when locating
their business to different branches. Through this
study, they would be informed of the factors to
consider when one is going to locate a business.
Erika: *employees* this study is alzo beneficial to
the employees since they also know the
background of the business that they are currently
in. They would gain a deeper understanding of
how certain factors affect the business With the
use of the insights from this study, they will be able
to add up or give necessary suggestions for the
improvement of the business in which in turn would
keep them employed.
Fiona: The future entrepreneurs would be aware of
the factors to consider in setting up a business as
well as the possibilities and opportunities to make
them succeed in their business.
RESEARCH PROBLEM
Erika: Nowadays, there is an increase in number of
food establishments along Maginhawa Street.
Moreover, Maginhawa Street is saturated with food
establishments.
Fiona: The researchers want to know if the location
affects the income of the eatery.
Carla: Specifically, if it increases or decreases the
income rate of a business
RESEARCH QUESTION
Erika: to answer the problem the researchers
formulated questions regarding the aforementioned
study. (to gain some insights) Thus, the
researchers aims to know if the location affects the
income of a business
Fiona: Also the researchers seek to know the
benefits of having a business that is located in
Maginhawa Street
Carla:the researchers also intend to know the
factors that the eatery owners consider when they
are looking for a business location
CONCEPTUAL
Erika: these are the factors that the owners
considered when they are looking for a good
location. first the site where the business will
operate it must be a good location where in the
place is accessible to many. So that the customer
would not have a difficulty to go there. Thus, they
must have an enough resources to establish a
business. (resources such as financial , supply

place that is highly populated to make it more
visible to potential customers, and has high foot

infrastructures that surrounds the business to
make it more attractive to customers as well as
investors. Having the mentioned characteristics will
lead the business into having higher income.
Carla: Lastly, the main location costs and
expenses spent in a certain location must be taken
into account. The location cost of the business
affects its asset since the amount of expenses
increases. In addition, having high expenses
hinder the business from generating higher income
in a way that the income gained will be lessened
by the expenses disbursed (spent). Moreover, to
operate a business one must know how to spend
their money wisely on good location.

METHODOLOGY
Erika: the researchers conducted a face-to-face
interview with the eatery owners. Interview was
conducted to gather the necessary data for the
research study.
Fiona: We had a total of four interviewees which
are the owners of the eateries and restaurant along
Maginhawa Street. We’ve chosen them as our
respondent since they are the ones most
knowledgeable about their business and its
operations.
Carla: Interview was chosen as our data gathering
procedure to have a face-to-face interaction with
the interviewees and so that follow up questions
may be asked when necessary.
FINDINGS
1. Maginhawa Street gives many benefits and
opportunities for business establishments.
2. Ideal business location for eateries are those
places that are accessible, highly populated,
has high foot traffic and are surrounded by
different infrastructures.
3. Location increases or decreases the income
of a business.
4. The reasons why they chose to run an eatery
varies.
5. The target market of the eateries were the
students studying near them.
6. The eatery owners have difficulty regarding
parking spaces and robbery incidents.
Fiona: Maginhawa Street is a perfect place for
businesses as it gives many opportunities and
benefits for business firms especially those that are
related into food. It gives benefit and opportunities
in such way that it is located in an accessible and
well-known area as well as it is a highly populated
place with good infrastructures.
Erika: most of the business owners look for a
place that is highly populated, high foot traffic,
surrounded by many infrastructures. ( according
to our respondents mr. tapsilogan he stated
that When they look into potential location they
look into what they call market generators like
schools, call center, hospitals and even bars.)
