INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

Relationship with the family are very valuable for the children's development,

as well as for overall aspects. It can also build a great and strong relationship through

having a good communications, bonding time, and sharing love among the family

members. Having a family relationship can make an individual strong. We cannot build

a strong relationship if the family members don't have communication. One of the best

ways to strengthen your family relationship is to listen and respect the members (Pat

Tanner Nelson, Ed. D, 2012).

Family relationship is very important because our spiritual and mental growth

and well-being are all depend from our family. It is the first society where we build a

intimacy and trusty life. Family teach us how to build trust in others as family members

share both good and bad times together (Sudipta Jana, December 2018).

Family is the single most important influence in a child’s life. It is the smallest

group of the society. It consists of a mother, father, and siblings. It can mean many
things to different people. These are the people who can care and love you.Family can

be your friends, teachers and even an entire community. You can rely on to those who

raise you, teach you values, and will be there no matter what happen. Family is anyone

who gets you through the day. Then the most important aspect of it is love. No matter

how you’ve been through, how people must behave with you, still the family help each

other and stay balance (Jeff Durham, June 2019).

They're the source of comfort and serve support, safeguard, guarantee and

they helped us to make sense of the world in which we live. A life process perspective

draws attention to the importance of lives, or cooperation within relationships, across

the life paths (Elder, Johnson, & Crosnoe, 2003).

For better or for worse, family relationships play a unique role in forming an

individual's well-being the lifestyle (Merz, Consecine, Schulze & Schuengel, 2009). It is

normal to have an arguments sometimes. It's evidential that families quarrel and

experience conflicts. The important aspect is that each member should feel that they

express their opinions openly and that their voice is as important in any other family

members (Jeff Durham, June 2019).

Children virtue from supervision by their parents both at home and at school.

Parental attitudes about education can greatly offend how children perform, but it is also
valuable to find the right balance of school involvement. When schools, families, and

community groups work together to support learning, children tend to do better in

school, stay in school longer, and like school more. (Rebecca Gaunt).

Based on researchers' observations, family relationship can affect the

behaviors of the students specially in their school performances, because student's may

feel sadness, miserable, and rebellion in their lives. Actually, as the students go through

in their daily lives, they encountered many different situations such as lack of attentions,

bullying, lack of confident, and some unnecessary attitudes that mostly happened. We

come up with this study so that we as the researchers will know about this situations

specially in the school of Cabalantian National High School.

Statement of the Problem

This study main aims to pinpoint the importance of family relationship to the

students on Cabalantian National High School. It also determine the pros and cons of

having a family relationship, and how it affects to the students behaviour. Specifically, it

sought to the answer of the following questions:

 1. Why does family relationship is important?

2. What family relationship does the researchers have?

3. What are the advantages of a good family relationship to the students?

4. What are the disadvantages of a good family relationship to the students?

Significance of the Study

The main purpose of this research is to expose the perception of the students

on family relationship, and to determine the effects of having a good or bad family

relationship to their behaviour and studies. This study will benefits the following:

Students. This study may help the students to be more responsible and respectful to

their parents also to their teachers. They should make their parents happy instead of

making them stress. Through this study, students may understand how important it is to

have a good relationship with their family, and with that, they can learn how to build a

strong connection to their parents , and be aware of every actions that they take, in order for

the students to make ways on how to handle this kind of challenge in students life.

Parents. This research is beneficial to the parents, because it is their responsibility to

know the behavior of their children especially when it comes to academic performances.
Parents are considered as one of the students strength to fight every battle and has a big

impact on the students life, so researchers conduct this study for the parents to be informed

about the involvement of family relationship to the students behavior in school, then maybe

parents may realize and manage to have a good time with their family.

Teachers. Teachers are the second parent of those students and also pay attentions

with their performance tasks. Like parents, teachers also care for the development of the

students. This research is significant to the teachers because this study helps to determine

the reason why students differ in their academic performances regarding with their family

relationship, in that way, teachers can now understand the situation of their students

especially in their behaviour and can be able to take action in order to help students build a

good relationship with their parents as well as to the students studies.

School. It benefits also to the school because it is the second home of students.

School situations and where the students usually expose their selves. Most of the students

spend more time in the school and it help the students to feel confident with their

classmates and friends. School is place where most of students show and express their

feelings such as happiness, sadness, emptiness, anger, restless and other virtues that

students behavior.
 Community. The community also profitable how the students show their personality

and relationship from their family to the community. Most of the children can be easily

revealed their selves from their family to the society. Building self confidence and self

esteem in order to have a positive view of oneself. Community can help the society to build

a strong and good affiliation to everyone.

Scope and Delimitation

The respondents of this study were 45 students who were enrolled at Cabalantian

National High School in School Year 2019-2020. These students are the main sources of

information needed to get the desired output; they are going to answer the questions

through the use of the questionnaires given and an interviews by the researchers. With the

help of the repondents, this research may resolve the conflicts of family problems in

student's life and can contribute to identify the advantages and disadvantages in family

relationship to the students. This reseach will also give awareness to the readers and

learners about the importance of having a family relationship.
