Course Description Art appreciation is a three-unit course that develops students’ ability to analyze, critique and appreciate different works of art through
interdisciplinary and multimodal approaches. This course equips students with a broad knowledge of the practical, philosophical, historical,
and social relevance of the arts in order to hone students’ ability to articulate their understanding of the arts. The course also develops
students’ competency in researching and curating arts as well as conceptualizing, mounting and evaluating art productions. The course aims
to develop students’ genuine appreciation for the Philippine arts by providing them opportunities to explore the diversity and richness and
their rootedness in Filipino culture.
Course Format Lecture-discussion, Exercises/Drills/Activities (individual/pair/group), Individual Reflection, Group Presentation, Quizzes, Assignments,
Immersions, Project, Recitation, Midterm & Final Examination
General Objectives At the end of the course the students should be able to:

Performance – Based Output for FINALS (70% of their final exam):


The following are the requirements for final Project Output (Performance – Based Output) and it will be served as 70% for the student’s final
exam:

Course Policies 1. Every student should attend classes regularly and punctually. If a student gets absent, he/she should present an excuse letter signed by
his/her parents or guardians and by the campus Administrator.
2. Students who incur absences in more than 20% of the class hours (equivalent to 8 sessions) may be dropped from the rolls and given a
grade of “UW or “5”, depending on his/her class standing.
3. Special tests/exams and/or exercises/activities may be given to a student who gets absent with a valid reason provided that he/she
presents an excuse letter signed his/her parents or guardians and by the campus Administrator.
4. Assignments/homework and other requirements should be submitted on time. Late submission of assignments shall not be tolerated and
will have corresponding deductions.
Honesty should be practiced at all times. A student who is caught cheating shall be given a grade of 5.0.
