The use of mobile phones has increased dramatically in recent years.

What are the positive and negative effects of this trend?

Thanks to the advancement in the field of science and technology, there was a
significant rise in the number of mobile phones used worldwide in the past few years. This
trend, however, brings not only advantages but also drawbacks to people’s life.
On one hand, with mobile phones, human’s life is benefited in many aspects. First
and foremost, this modern device afford people an opportunity to keep in touch with
others from all over the world. We are now allowed to contact with our friends and
families even if they live so far instead of waiting for months to get a letter. In addition to
that, people from every corners of the world can catch up with the latest news through a
wide range of websites and platforms online. Another benefit of mobile phone is it helps
make our life more convenient. For instance, workers no longer have to bring pens and
papers with them since they are able to take quick note on the phone instead of using
ordinary way. Last but not least, cellular phone is undoubtedly a huge source of
entertainment for people in any aged. Children and teenagers often play games and listen
to the hottest songs in their spare time. Older people can watch their favorite programs or
enjoy a classical symphony online with their friends after the meals.
On the other hand, this modern device also brings a great deal of disadvantages.
Firstly, it is undeniable that mobile phones are immensely addictive. Scientists have
proved that smartphone is one of the biggest temptations for people around the world,
especially teenagers. Children who are addicted to phones often give up their study and
spend hours playing, which result in their future life. Moreover, using the phones too
much is really harmful for both physical and mental health. You can have your eyes hurt if
you spend a long time playing with your smartphones. Sometimes, people can suffer from
behavioral problems and other serious mental diseases because of abusing phones. Finally,
the increasing use of mobile phones leads to a separated world. People lose face-to-face
communication with each other and live in a virtual world alone. Human is becoming
more cold-hearted and no longer pay attention to others.
In conclusion, this trend have both positive and negative impacts on human beings.
However, if we know how to control the way we use the device, its benefits will outweigh
drawbacks.

Some experts believe that it is better for children to begin learning a foreign language at
primary school rather than secondary school. Do the advantages of this outweigh its
disadvantages?

It is believed that start learning a second language at primary school rather than
secondary school is beneficial for students. As a result, it is advisable to teach pupils at
primary school a foreign language. From my perspective, the benefits of this plan
outweigh its drawbacks.
To embark on, learning a foreign language at a young age is much more easier.
Scientist have proved that the younger you are, the better you will be able to master a new
language. Moreover, it is undeniable that multi-linguals are often more confident.
