Broker Forum THIS Thursday

Our final Broker Forum of the year will take place at 9:00 a.m. in Conference Room A at HAAR
offices. This is a great opportunity to share your ideas, tell us what’s working and what’s not, and
network with your fellow brokers.

New Board Members Elected for 2020

As elected by membership and announced at our final luncheon of the year, the 2020 HAAR Board
of Directors is now set. Twelve Directors will be installed at our annual Gala on January 11, 2020. We
thank them for their willingness to serve and strengthen both our association and industry for years

FHA Reverses HUD Rule

The Federal Housing Administration has revisited its position regarding broker commissions involving
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development real estate–owned homes. The FHA’s original
policy prevented brokers with an ownership interest from receiving a commission.

2019 ValleyMLS.com Leadership Summit

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, December 4th for the 2019 ValleyMLS.com Leadership
Summit! This event is open to all incoming officers, board members, and committee chairs from the
six associations that partner with ValleyMLS.com. The Summit meets the NAR Core Standards
requirement to have your leadership trained for their position, and prepares all volunteer leaders to
serve at their local association. This year's featured speaker will be 2011 NAR President Ron Phipps.

Ronald Phipps was the 2011 president of the 1,100,000 NATIONAL
ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®. Phipps has been a REALTOR® for
40 years and is actively involved as principal broker of Phipps Realty
Inc. in East Greenwich, R.I.

In 2006, Ron was the presidential liaison for Housing and

Diversity. Phipps’ accomplishments include Operation
Home Delivery, NAR’s and Habitat International’s joint
venture to build 54 homes in the Gulf region for Katrina
victims. At the state level, Phipps was President of the
Rhode Island Association of REALTORS®.

Ron is an accomplished keynote speaker, leadership

teacher, certified CIPS instructor, and a spokesperson
trainer.
