Experience Plan 1

Learning Area: science and literacy Room: Mentor Teacher Signature:

Platypus room

Project Topic: Living things Date and Time: 14/10/19

Outcomes:
-Outcome 4.4: Children resource their own learning through connecting with people, place, technologies and
natural and processed materials
-Outcome 4.3: Children develop a range of skills and processes such as problem solving, inquiry,
experimentation, hypothesising, researching and investigating
Content:
- science: investigating, problem solving and exploring
- Literacy: verbal interaction
Learning Intention - This experience aims to develop children’s understanding about insets and bugs through
investigating and exploring.
- It is also develop children’s literacy skills though interact with their peers.
Success Criteria ▪ The outcomes will be assessed by the observation that the educator make after the
experience

Differentiation ▪ Questioning: the questions that are used differently to engage children’s developing
according to their fund of knowledge

Room ▪ The experience will be set up in the small table that with maximum four children’s
organisation participation

Procedure Engagement/ Introduction: I will use directing strategies to inviting children on the table.
Modelling can be used to encourage children to engage in the activity. I also will
scaffold children’s leaning through reminding their previous bugs shooting experiences
during outdoor play.

Learning experiences: This is a open-ended experience that with well set up resources to
engage children to explore and investigate the different types of inserts and their habitats,

Closure: I will observe and interact children in the tables until children are ready to transit to
other experiences.

Resources ▪ Natural resources: leaves, wooden pieces, bricks with holes

▪ Green table cloth
▪ Small size of inserts toys

Questions - I think I found a lady bug, is this a lady bug?(use of other inserts)
- Do you remember we saw a black beetle on the fence last week?
- Where do they live?
- What do they eat?

Reflection - reflection methods

Assessment ▪ Document children’s learning, analysis and make reflection

Discussion Standard
Describe the group (ability levels, engagement, interests, etc.) Know your students and how
they learn
Children in my focus group are in early stage of developing their learning areas. As
children are just turn three year old, it is important for students to explore more open-
ended experiences, resources in related to sensory experiences and stimulate their early
learning on literacy, mathematic, science and son on. Children in my focus group also
intend to engage more with activities that involve in physical movements.

The current interest for children in this stage is about living things that includes animals,
inserts and natural plants. Children demonstrated high engagement and involved in
questioning and discussion when when they saw animals and plant in the books, pictures
and outdoor playing environment.

What is the content or curriculum area you intend to cover? Know the content and how to
teach it
In this planned experiences, I intend to create a open-ended environment with bugs and
natural materials. Children can manipulate those bugs in the natural tables and observed
their colors, sizes and appearances. Children also can explore dramatic play by using
those bugs.

What is the experience outcome or learning intention for this lesson? Plan for an implement effective
teaching and learning
This experience can develop children’s disposition of exploring and investigating. Children
also can develop their understanding of different bugs according to their appearances.

What strategies will you use to encourage engagement and manage behaviour? Create and maintain a
supportive and safe learning
I will use modelling strategies to encourage children to name and investigate the environment
appearance of the bugs. I also will use questions to scaffold children’s learning. I will also
provide support when children need. The positive enforcement strategies to maintain
children’s behaviour and ensure children engage their learning.
How will you differentiate the learning to meet the needs of the three focus children Know your students and how
(case study participants)? How will you connect the learning for children? they learn

I will encourage children who demonstrated leadership to motivate other children’s

learning. Questions also will be asked differently based on children’s learning
development on literacy, mathematic and sciences.

Describe the teaching strategies you intend to use to share new information and give Plan for an implement effective
children the opportunity to demonstrate understanding teaching and learning

In the beginning of the experience, I will use action to demonstrate the different bugs on
the table and modelling the behaviours to show children the excitement of find their
favourite bugs and name them. Then, I will encourage children to show their
understanding through scaffolding questions such as: what’s your favourite inserts? And
use time delay to wait for children’s responses.

How will you ensure review of learning occurs? Assess, provide feedback and
report on student learning
I will use experiences planned format that can provide clear analysis and evaluation about
what have been achieve and what is the intentional teaching moment for this experiences
and the further planning experiences.
