 Paragraph One. Job Description
Doctor

I am a doctor at San Pedro Hospital in Pasto. I work from 7: 00 to 2:00. Here I have to see
around 15 patients every day from all ages. I give medicine prescriptions for the flu, stomach
symptoms and other health problems. My office is rather small; there is a big litter, a doctor´s
scale. The walls are white and there are no posters on them. I have a desk and a chair and
also I have a computer in which I write about every patient. I must wear a hospital gown and
I decide to use trainers because sometimes I get tired and my legs hurt. The best things
about my job are that I can have the afternoon off.

 Paragraph Two. Describe Workplace

San Pedro Hospital is located in San Juan de Pasto (Nariño). It is far from the city centre
and of course my home. Here the people can have medical exams, appointments with
doctors, and there is an urgency service which it´s opened 24 / 7. There is a big building
where you can many find doctor´s office where patients get attention. There is also a big
cafeteria in which people can have any meal or drink a coffee. Outside the hospital, in the
entrance, there is a big reception, the first place a patient needs to visit before entering to
the hospital facility. Some nights are really cold, especially in August since it is the coldest
month of the year in my city. Sometimes I must help other doctors so I have to work in the
afternoon or in the emergency room.

 Paragraph Three. Say why you like it.

I love work as a doctor because I can give people a better life when they feel sick or have
health problems. I like working with elderly because they always treat me like a daughter,
they are very loving and they always have a smile and grateful words. I have to work as a
team with other doctors, as well as nurses, social workers, etc to provide welfare to our
patients. The good thing about job is that I can meet many people and can learn from them.
I have lived in many places due to my job and I would dare to say that is not a stressful job.

 Paragraph Four. Why you dislike it

I must admit that sometimes is hard work waking up early since some days are cold and
other days are freezing. There will always be the most impatient people so I must stay calm
and breathe so I can control myself. My office sometimes gets so lonely and I can have 40
minutes without any patient so this is the most boring moment of the day. There are some
days that I feel that my energy is at its lowest point, and I really need to take a rest
(fortunately it´s only one or three days a month) When I have to work in the ER the most
difficult part is that I have to work from 7 pm to 7 am.

 Paragraph Five. Say whether your friend would like your job.
I´m sure you would like to do this job because you can get to help lots of people, you
can have free time in the afternoons. You can feel passionate about your job and also
you can get some grateful smiles and words.
You can specialize in any area of medicine you consider most appealing and
personally rewarding and by doing this you can travel to another city or even another
country and your salary would increase. But if you like helping people and share time
with them, I´m sure you are going to love this job
