Chapter 1

A. Background of the study


Senior High School is two years of specialized upper secondary education; students may
choose specialization based on aptitude, interest, and school capacity. The choice of career track will
define the content of the subjects a student will take in Grade 11 and 12. Each student in Aguilar Senior
High school can choose among two tracks: Academic and Technical-Vocational-Livelihood. The academic
track includes four strand: STEM, ABM, HUMMS, and GAS. The TVL track includes four strand; ICT, H.E,
SMAW, and EIM.

B. Statement of the problem


Some of the academic students notice that there’s unreasonable treatment between the
Academic track and TVL track.

C. Significance of the study

This study will be significant endeavor in the solving of some treatment problems as well as
to improve the relationship between the students of the Academic Track and TVL Track.
This research will also be helpful in serving as guide to the students and school officials to
renew and restart the relationship between these two tracks, to reset the insights and undo the
“unreasonable treatment” between the Academic and TVL Track.

D. Scope and Delimitation

This study focuses on the Impression of Senior High School Students on Aguilar Integrated
School (AIS).This involves a survey for selected AIS’ students. The selection of respondents are
only limited since there are lots of SHS Student in Aguilar Integrated School.
This research is designed to have a thorough knowledge on what was the impression of the
students between Academic Track and Technical Vocational Track.

E. Definition of Terms

 AIS (Aguilar Integrated School)


 STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics)
 This strand will develop the students’ ability to evaluate simple to complex societal
problems and be responsive and active in the formulation of its solution through the
application and integration of scientific, technological, engineering, and mathematical
concepts as it prepares them to pursue college degrees that focuses on the enigma
of the natural world thereby leading them to become future scientists, technological
analysts and experts, engineers, mathematicians, programmers, and the like.
 ABM (Accountancy Business Management)
 This strand is designed as an introductory course in accounting and business and
management where students are trained to think logically and scientifically and are
acquainted with the rudiments of accounting, business and management concepts
and principles in order to prepare them to pursue college degrees that focus on
business and industry where their contribution as future accountants, entrepreneurs,
and business leaders are vital to the progress and development of the economy and
critical to the promotion of a sustainable green business.
 HUMSS (Humanities and Social Science)
 This strand covers a wide range of disciplines that delve into the investigation and
inquiry of the human conditions that uses empirical, analytical, and critical methods of
studying human behavior and societal changes. Students pursuing college degrees
on this strand will have a deeper understanding of arts, culture, literature, politics,
and society and how the complex interplay of these facets help them appreciate
individual behavior and social group and the pressing issues corresponding them.
 GAS (General Academic Strand)
 This strand is purposively designed for those students who are still indecisive of what
course or degree they want to pursue in college. A student who finished on this
strand can proceed to any college program. However he/she has to take some
subjects not taken in Senior High but required by a particular college as a bridging
program to assess his/her preparedness in the field of study chosen.
 ICT (Information Communication technology)
 Information and communication technology revolutionizes how the different industries
and institutions operate. As communication and technological progress reshapes
many aspects of the society, it is also a driving force behind economic growth. Thus,
this strand will equip the graduates with the necessary skills and competencies fitting
for employment as they earned their National Certification II from TESDA. With the
strong external linkages and varied industry partners, graduates have high possibility
of employability as they will be absorbed by the companies during their On-the- job
training.
 EIM (Electrical Installation and Maintenance)
 The curriculum is designed to prepare students with entry level knowledge and
manipulative skills for employment in the electrical industry. The program combines
theory with laboratory activities as an effective means of developing the skills
essential to the electrical trade.
 SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc and Welding)
 Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) is a fusion welding process that uses a
consumable, flux-coated electrode to create an arc between the electrode and the
work piece. Molten metal travels from the electrode via the electrical arc and is
deposited into the work piece. The flux coating is also melted and it surfaces on top
of the molten weld pool in the form of slag.
 HE (Home Economics)
 The Home Economics track offers various specializations that can lead to livelihood
projects at home. This strand aims to give you job-ready skills that can help you in
finding the right employment

F. Hypothesis or Assumption

The Senior High School students of Aguilar Integrated School have different impressions
through Academic Track and Tech-Voc Track.

G. Conceptual or Theoretical Framework

Academic track core curriculum subjects there are seven learning areas under the core
curriculum: Languages, Literature, Communication, Mathematics, Philosophy, Natural Sciences,
and Social Sciences.

 Introduction to philosophy of the human person/Pambungad sa pilosopiya ng tao

 Personal Development/Pansariling kaunlaran
 Earth science ( instead of earth and life science for those in the STEM strand)
 Disaster readiness and risk reduction (taken instead of physical science for those in the
STEM strand)

TVL track core learning area standard

The learner demonstrates understanding of knowledge, skills, values and attiudes (KSVA) of
Technology and Vocational Education ( EPP + TLE = T&VE), and develop middle level skills that
will enable him/her to start a business, gain employment, and / or pursue higher education.
Chapter 2

Review of Related Literature

Academic and TVL are just two tracks example in Senior High Academic Track means are looking
forward to go to college. This track will help the student to prepare yourself for the subject specialization of
the college course he/she will take in the future. While TVL Track invest helpful skills in choosing better
career opportunities and both academic and TVL Track are very essential for students who are looking and
dreaming for a better and bright future .In this study we will focus on the impressions of the SHS student
about this two tracks. This study may be a way in knowing what was the real Situations, State, and
Condition of being a Academic and TVL Students.
Chapter 3
Research Methodoogy

As it is indicated in the title, this chapter includes the research methodology of issertation. In more details,
in the part, we, the researchers outlines the research design, the sampling technique, the variables of this
research, and the statistical method.

A. Research design
This study is designed as a qualitative research, aiming to know Academic and TVL Track
students perceptions, insights, and current relationship between their chosen strands. We chose a
survey research design because it best served to answer the questions and the purposes of the
study. The survey research is one in which a group of people is studied by collecting and analyzing
data from only a few people considered to be representative of the entire group.

B. Sampling Technique
For the purposes of this study, we, researchers, had to examine to separate groups of
participants. A method of stratified sampling has been used, as the relation ships between different
sub-groups had to be observed.
The first group of participants consist of Academic Track students from four academic
strands. A total of 138 students were involved in the study. We tried to create as diverse a sample
as possible, making sure there was an equal number of students in both grade 11 and 12 Academic
strands. The other group of participants consisted of TVL Track students from four TVL strands.
With a total of 173 students. All of the participants were selected randomly.

D. Statistical Method
The analysis of the questionnaire results were manually analyzed. Because of the qualitative
approach of this study, we did not use any of the statistical software.
The results of the survey were also analyzed manually, where we aimed to detect common
words, phrases, answers, and group them together. In order to be able to determine similarities in
the answers of the respondents.

school students in Aguilar Integrated School.
Being a senior high school student of Aguilar Integrated School, you are selected to accomplish
the said questionnaire.
Ypu are requested to answer the given questions as honestly as possible. Please be assured that
your answes will be treated with confidentiality.
Kindly accomplish the questionnaire by either filling in the blanks or placing checkmarks on the
