hand grenade at mga dokumento ng samahang kinaaniban.

A Communist New People’s Army (NPA) terrorist, who has been operating in the Bicol
Region, was arrested in Norzagaray, Bulacan on Thursday.
The NPA member, whose name was temporarily withheld, was nabbed at Barangay
Bigte, Norzagaray, Bulacan at about 10:30 a.m.
The arrested rebel had a standing warrants of arrest for murder and multiple frustrated
murder issued in 2011.
Accorrding to the military, information provided by the people in the community led to
the capture of the suspect.
Joint elements from the Seventh Infantry (Kaugnay) Division together with the Ninth
Infantry (Spear) Division, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Bulacan and
Philippine National Police (PNP)-Bulacan acted on the information provided by the
residents in the area.
“The joint operations of the Army and the PNP within the area of the 7th ID yielded
significant results. It is proven not only in the arrest Communist terrorists in Central
Luzon, but also in our campaign against insurgency and security-related endeavors,”
Brig. Gen. Lenard T. Agustin, 7th ID acting commander said.
“Rest assured that the Army and PNP will strengthen its relationship to attain just and
lasting peace in our area,” he added.
Agustin also warned other NPAs that the Army and PNP will hunt them down. He said
that the rebels must choose to surrender to the government and have the chance to
start anew.
He also said that rebels with warrants of arrest will face the consequences of their
crimes and will be given his day in court to answer the charges.
Agustin added that the rights of the arrested suspects will be respected.

Ayon kay Philippine Army Spokesperson Lt Col Ray Tiongson alas-8L30 ng umaga
kanina nang magkasagupa ang dalawang grupo.
Nagtagal ang sagupaan ng tatlong oras bago nagsitakbo papalayo ang mga
nakalabang rebelde.
Tesorio was reportedly the head of the NPA northeastern Luzon regional command,
while Raza was the head of the Danilo Ben command of the NPA’s northern front.
Murder, rebellion
The warrants stemmed from cases of murder, frustrated murder, multiple murder and
rebellion filed against Tesorio and Raza.
Police reported recovering two guns, two hand grenades, a laptop and antigovernment
documents from the two men.
Chief Supt. Amador Corpus, Central Luzon police director, said the operation was a
result of “concerted operations and diligent efforts of the police and the military to arrest
all lawless elements in the region.”
The Armed Forces’ Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) said in a separate report that
the NPA had stepped up attacks.
On Jan. 23, Nolcom tagged the NPA to be behind the killing of Johnny Adaol, a retired
policeman, at Sitio Luyucan in Tabuk City, Kalinga province.
Kalinga clash
On the same day, a clash took place in Pinukpuk town, also in Kalinga, where two
soldiers were killed and two others wounded.
The NPA, the military wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines, had stepped up
attacks in parts of Luzon before President Duterte unilaterally canceled the peace talks
in late 2017. The attacks took place in Batangas and Northern Luzon provinces.

A village chief was shot dead by suspected members of the New Peoples’ Army ( NPA)
in front of his wife and father-in-law in Hilingos, Leyte Saturday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Virigilio Loquas, barangay captain of Bgy. Sto. Niño in
Hilingos.
According to 8th Infantry Division of Philippine Army spokesman Major Bard Ceasar B.
Mazo, the victim was fishing together with his wife and father-in-law around 1:30 p.m.
when three armed men arrived and shot him.
After the incident, the suspects fled leaving the victim’s companions unharmed.
Maj. Gen. Pio Q Diñoso III, commander of 8ID, condemned the killing.
“The 8ID strongly condemns the murder of barangay captain Virgilio Loquias by the
members of CPP-NPA terrorists and a clear manifestation of gross violation of human
rights.
“The Philippine Army together with the Philippine National Police will be objective in its
investigation to ensure that justice is served. We extend our condolences and prayers to
the bereaved family,” Diñoso said.
The military said the gunmen claimed the victim was the one who tipped off the
authorities who raided the rebels’ camp.
