3.

3 COLD SAW OPERATING PROCEDURE


3.3.1 STARTUP PROCEDURE

To start the cutting process in the finishing line first of all we have to ensure that all condition in cold saw
area is safe to be start and after all condition is safe we can make start up with steps as below:

a. Switches on the isolation key to work position (if the line condition was immobilized).
b. Open safety area page on HMI screen, select restart for each saws and switch on for each roller table
area (if the line condition was immobilized).
c. Release the sequence lock on the desk.
d. Open lubrication and grease unit on HMI screen, check all the permissive and start all the unit and
select Auto for grease #1, #2.
e. Open hydraulic unit page on HMI screen, select start for wheeled stopper #1, #2, #3.
f. Open air and water unit page on HMI screen, select start water unit for each saw #1, #2, #3.
g. Open cumulative page on HMI screen, select on the drive for roller table.
h. Open the saw machine by clicking the saw and check all the permissive and ensure it is ok, select
inverter selection Request and start the motor.
i. Check all interlock system to ensure all system is healthy.

3.3.2 SHUTDOWN PROCEDURE

Shut down in finishing area is usually done if there are improvements by maintenance team in some areas,
to make shut down in cold saw area we can start with steps as below:

a. Switches off the automatic button.


b. Reposition all the saws to home position.
c. Open the saw machine by clicking the saw, select inverter selection Request and stop the motor.
d. Open hydraulic unit page on HMI screen, select stop for wheeled stopper #1, #2, #3.
e. Open air and water unit page on HMI screen, select stop water unit for each saw #1, #2, #3.
f. Open cumulative page on HMI screen, select off the drive for roller table.
g. Open lubrication and grease unit on HMI screen, stop all the unit and select manual for grease #1, #2.
h. Switch on the sequence lock for all area by pressing the mushroom button.

3.3.3 DISK CHANGING PROCEDURE

3.3.3.1 DISK CONDITION

There are some circumstances for changing the disk/blade and we have to aware about it, and the list is
underneath:

a. The disk is over torque during the cutting.


b. During daily inspection found any crack or fracture.
c. The disk tooth is busted.
d. Cross the desired cutting surface area (m2).
e. The disk is blunt or not sharp enough.
3.3.3.2 DISK CHANGING SAFETY REQUIREMENT

Safety is our responsibility during the work so we must have to wear all PPE before changing the disk, in
any case if we find unsafe action or unsafe condition stop the job and report immediately to supervisor to
make risk assessment or job safety analysis. Personal protective equipment that must be worn it by operator
during disk changing as listed below:

a. Safety helmet.
b. Safety gloves.
c. Goggle.
d. Safety shoes.
e. Long sleeve uniform.
f. Dust mask
g. Ear muff/ear plug

3.3.3.3 DISK CHANGING STEPS

Before starting the disk change we must check the immobilizations to ensure that saw area is safe for us to
work, prepare all the tools and make high quality of communication. The disk changing steps are listed
under:

1. Safety aspect:
a. Repositions the saw to home position/Disk changing position.
b. Open safety area on HMI screen, select immobilize for the saw (appropriate saw).
c. Switch on the isolation key to immobilize position at local panel near the saw.

2. Changing steps:
a. Open the door of saw cabin.
b. Displaced water cooling system:
- remove the pin.
- lift up the water cooling system in all up position.
- insert the pin in dedicated hole.

c. Insert the disk changing device (Tackle).


- use the crane to take the disk changing device/tackle
- put the tackle on the disk and insert the pin to the hole of the disk.
- Ensure the surface of the disk and the surface of the tackle must be in parallel.

d. Connect the hydraulic pump.


- check the connection hose.
- connect the hydraulic pump to the hydraulic clamp.
- Pumped it till reach 320 bar to open the lock nut.

e. Remove the washer.


f. Disconnect the hydraulic pump from the hydraulic clamp.
g. Remove the disk.
- To remove the disk at least two persons are needed.
- Pull out the disk smoothly out of the mandrel
- Put the old disk to the dedicated saw rack.

h. Clean the new disk surface, pins, pins hole, washer surface and put some grease to pins and outside
surface of the washer.
i. Take new blade and put it on the mandrel and ensure that the sign (red marking) on the disk match
with the sign of mandrel position.
j. Re-install the washer
k. Connect the hydraulic pump to the hydraulic clamp.
- pumped it till reach 300 bar.
- lock the nut with the key and hammer.

l. Release the tackle from the disk and put at dedicated area.
m. Close the door of saw cabin.
n. Clean the saw area.
