Quick Start
2.0 D6600 Installation Overview
1. Place the D6600 Communications Receiver/Gateway in a secure location (rack mount, desktop, etc.).
2. Remove tie wrap from receiver door handle. Open door and remove packaging foam from front of CPU Card.
3. Verify CPU Card and Line Card connections by gently pushing the cards in their slots until they are securely connected
to the CPU Terminator Card and the Line Terminator Card.
4. Ensure that the D6600 power switch is in the Off position. Plug AC Power Cord into rear of the D6600. Plug other end
into an unswitched 120 VAC 60 Hz or 230 VAC 50 Hz line.
5. Plug telephone lines into the first Line Terminator card. Line 1 will be the top RJ-11 connector on the rightmost card,
looking at the rear of the unit. Line 2 is the next lower, and so on.
Note: If a Network Automation connection is desired, skip Step 6 and proceed with the remainder of the D6600 installation. For
additional instructions on connecting automation software to the network, please see Section 3.0 D6600 NetCom Installation
Overview on page 3.
6. Connect the Automation Computer to COM3, the center 9-pin connector on the CPU Terminator card, using a Null
Modem cable.
7. Connect an External Parallel Printer (power off) to the lower 25-pin connector on the CPU Terminator card.
8. Turn power On to the D6600.
9. After the system is ready, use the up and down arrow keys to adjust the contrast if needed. Press [M/E] to enter the
menu.
10. Type in the default programming password (D6600: 6600). Press the [M/E] key.
11. Use arrow keys to move through the menus, press [M/E] to enter a menu level, and [CAN] to exit a level.
12. Set the internal calendar and clock:
a. Use the arrow keys to select Menu 2 CPU CONFIGURATION, press the [M/E] key.
b. Use the arrow keys to select Menu 2.2 GLOBAL, press the [M/E] key.
c. Use the arrow keys to select Menu 2.2.1 TIME SETUP, press the [M/E] key.
d. Type in the current time. Press the [M/E] key.
e. Use the arrow keys to select Menu 2.2.2 DATE SETUP, press the [M/E] key.
f. Type in the current date. Press the [M/E] key.
g. Press [CAN] to exit through menus.
The D6600 unit is now ready to accept calls.

3.0 D6600 NetCom Installation Overview

Perform the following installation steps prior to powering up the receiver if installing a D6600 NetCom system.

1. Connect the D6680 Network Adapter (optional) to COM4, the top 9-pin connector on the CPU Terminator card. Use
the straight modem cable provided to connect to Channel 1 (the 25-pin connector) of the network adapter.
2. Using a CAT5 Ethernet cable, connect the other end of the network adapter to the network hub.
3. If a COM1 Expansion Package is installed in the receiver, then connect a second D6680 Network Adapter (optional) to
COM1. (A D6672 COM1 Expansion Package must be separately ordered and the D6672 must be installed. See the
D6672 Installation Guide [P/N: 4998122715] for details.) COM1 is the 9-pin connector to the left of the CPU
Terminator card looking at the rear of the unit. Use the straight modem cable provided to connect to Channel 1 (the
25-pin connector) of the network adapter.
4. Using a CAT5 Ethernet cable, connect the other end of the second network adapter to the network hub.
5. Connect a PC with an Ethernet card to the network using a CAT5 Ethernet cable.
Note: This PC is connected to the network for D6200 software applications and for configuring the network adapters.
6. Apply power to the network adapters.
7. Using this PC, configure the network adapters through a Telnet connection. Please refer to the section entitled
Configuration of the D6680 Network Adapter(s), in the D6600 NetCom System Guide (P/N: 4998122712) for further
details. Contact the network administrator for assistance.

4.0 D6200 Installation Overview

The D6200 software installs new drivers for the D6201 Security Key. Please be sure all USB security keys are removed
before installation.

1. Insert the D6600 Communications Receiver/Gateway CD-ROM into the PC’s CD-ROM drive and view the CD-ROM
files.
2. Open the D6200 Programmer folder on the CD-ROM.
3. Double click the D6200_1.20.exe icon to begin the installation process.
4. Follow the installation instruction prompts given by the computer to complete installation of the D6200 Remote
Programming Software.
