Chapter 1 System Outline


GIE 4820/3A/3.45KW embedded power supply system is suitable for powering
supply to the small scale program controlled exchange, access network,
transmission equipment, mobile communication, satellite communication ground
station, microwave communication and other equipment.

1.1 System Naming Rule

The naming rule of the GIE 4820/3A/3.45KW embedded communication power


supply system is as following:

As shown in Fig.1-2, the power system is powered by one AC mains. AC power is


first input QF1 circuit breaker and then fed into the rectifier module after EMI
filtering. QF1 functions as over-current and short-circuit protection to AC power.
After the combination of distribution unit, the DC output of the rectifier module is
divided four branches to power to the loads. The four loads are separately
controlled by circuit breakers of QF2, QF3, QF4, and QF5, and provide users
ON/OFF control, over-current protection and short-circuit protection to every loads.
A load power-off contactor KM1 is connected in series with the LOAD2, LOAD3,
and LOAD4. The user’s battery is connected to the DC output terminal of power
supply system through QF6 circuit breaker and KM2 power-off contactor, and the
circuit breaker provides disconnection control, over-current and short-circuit
protection to the battery.

Under normal conditions, every parameter of rectifier modules and distribution unit
are all under control of the monitoring module, operating according to the pre-set
parameters of user’s commands. If AC mains faults, the battery will power to the
system. With the battery discharge, the terminal voltage of the battery starts
descent. When the battery voltage drops to 45V (1V higher than the default load
disconnection voltage), the monitoring module will report ‘DC under-voltage’ alarm
signal. When battery voltage drops to 44V (1V higher than the default battery
disconnection voltage), the control contactor KM1 of monitoring module acts to cut
off the connection between power supply and the Load 2, Load 3, and Load 4.
Then the power system just powers to the Load 1 (important load) to prolong the
powering time for the important load. When battery voltage drops to battery
protection voltage point (43V), the control contactor KM2 of monitoring module acts
to cut off the connection between power supply and the battery and protects the
battery for over-discharge. Then the power system will stop working. When the
external AC mains recovers and the rectifier modules resume normal outputs, the
system will recover to the normal work state. (All above monitoring data are system
default values, users can reset.)

Except for battery over-discharge protection, the system is designed with battery
and load over-temperature protection function: if the battery or load temperature
exceeds 53℃ for continued 30 seconds, the monitoring module will control battery
or load power off unconditionally until the battery or load temperature drops down to
recovery point. Battery or load over-temperature function is prohibitive under
default condition, users can send command to active or inactive according to the
demanding. The range of load over-temperature protection point is 50~70℃
(default is 65℃), and recovery point is fixed designed 5℃ lower than the protection
point. The range of battery over-temperature protection point is 40~70℃ (default is
50℃), and recovery point is fixed designed 5℃ lower than the protection point.

The system can also collect and report all kinds of environmental parameters via
monitoring unit, such as: smoke, gate magnetic, waterlogging, temperature and
humidity, etc.

The electrical connection between the rectifier module and backboard is conducted
through the plug-in device of 96 pins. Pin definitions of the plug-in device are
shown in Fig.1-5.

The rectifier module adopts hot-swappable design, and the damaged module can
be replaced when the system is on operation. The indicators on the panel of
rectifier module reflect the operation state of the rectifier module, and the main
functions can refer to the Table 1-2.

1.4.2 Monitoring Module

The user interface of the monitoring module is on the panel of the monitoring
module, as shown in Fig.1-6.

Function explanations:

1) There are two indicators (operation indicator and alarm indicator) on the panel of
the monitoring module to provide the system operating state to the users. When the
monitoring module is under normal operation, the operation indicator (green) is
flashing regularly. When the monitoring module detects alarm in the system, the
system alarm indicator (red) will be on. Otherwise it will be off.

2) The power system provides two communication ports: communication port COM
and MS, used for communicating with the host computer. Communication port
COM adopts RS232 or RS422 communication method, and communication port
MS adopts RS232 communication method, and the baud rate is fixed at 9600. The
communication port can also automatically identify whether the present
communication protocol is “Communication Protocol between PSM-B9 Monitoring
Module and Master/Slave Node of the Host” or “Communication Protocol between
PSM-B9 Monitoring Module and the Host of Access Network”. When the host
communicates with the standby communication port MS, the main communication
port COM stop communicating. The communication ports of COM and MS cannot
take effect at the same time. When the communication port MS of the monitoring
module communicates with the host, the communication port COM is of no effect.

3) The monitoring module connects with signal transfer box (optional fittings)
through signal port DB37, and then connects with various sensors through the ports
of the signal-transfer box to realize the expanding of the monitoring functions.

1.4.3 Recommendation of Signal Transfer Box and External Sensors

The signal-transfer box is an optional accessory. The electrical characteristics of


Signal transfer box W1A431Z1 and W1A431Z2 are the same. Its outline and
mechanical size are shown in Fig. 1-7, 1-8.

replaced when the system is operating.

The address of the monitoring module can be set through the toggle switch on the

centralized management of multi-power systems.

1.5 Monitoring Functions of the Power System

1.5.1 Function Introduction

The monitoring module of the power system is used to monitor operation status and
environmental parameters of rectifier modules and distribution module. When the
monitoring module detects the abnormity, it can not only send light through the
panel, but also control the output of alarm dry contact according to the alarm class
of the current alarm information: JK1 will close when there is a serious alarm, and
JK2 will close when there is a general alarm.

The monitoring module of the power system also has the communication report
function. It can communicate with the host through RS232 or RS422 mode
according to the protocol defined internally by the enterprise. It can receive queries,
settings, and control from the host and can report the detected status and physical
parameters to the host for the convenience of centralized management.

The monitoring module of the power system also has the perfect battery
management function.

1.5.2 Expanding of System Monitoring Performance

1. Communication Function between Monitoring Module and the Host

The power system provides two communication ports for communication with the
host. The ports locate on the panel of the system monitoring module.

Users can write the host monitoring software oneself according to the
communication protocol provided by the enterprise and realize the remote message,
remote sense, and remote control by the monitoring module. Users can realize the
centralized monitoring and automatic management of the power system in
monitoring center via RS232 or RS422 communication lines.

Main communication functions that can be carried out between the power system
and the host:

(1) Sending real time analog data from the monitoring module to the host.

(2) Sending real time digital data from the monitoring module to the host.

(3) Sending alarm and status information to the host.

(4) Receiving control commands from the host such as on/off of rectifier modules.

(5) Receiving system configuration parameters set by the host and giving feedback
of the system configuration parameters to the host.

When the communication protocol is "Communication Protocol between PSM-B9


Monitoring Module and the Host Main/Slave Node", relationship between the host
and monitoring module is active/slave. All reading, setting, and control process
must be initiated by the host, and the monitoring module is always in slave mode.
Monitoring module cannot report data to the host actively without the correct
command from the host. The communication addresses of all the monitoring
modules, which communicate with the host, are set (through the dial switcher on
the monitoring main-board, detailed information can refer to the Chapter 3) and
make sure that the communication address of each monitoring module are not
repeated.

When the communication protocol is “Communication Protocol between PSM-B9


Monitoring Module and the Access Network Host”, the communication address
does not need setting. When the current alarm information, analog parameters,
state information, and etc., change, the monitoring module will report corresponding
information to the host actively, and the host can enquiry monitoring module
information in real time.

2. Control Functions

The power system can send control signals through the monitoring module
according to some inspecting values or the commands form the host.

(1) Turn on or turn off corresponding rectifier module according to rectifier on/off
commands sent by the host.

(2) Turn on or turn off the power for loads or batteries according to the power on/off
command and system parameters sent by the host.

(3) Control the on/off status of two digital outputs according to the control command
sent by the host.

(4) Control the equalized/floating charge statuses according to the control


command, control mode and system parameter sent by the host.

(5) Control the output of dry contact according to the system current alarm class.

(6) Control the start/stop of the battery discharge testing according to the command
sent by the host and current system state.

(7) Control over-temperature protection of battery and load according to the


command, control method, and system parameters sent by the host.

3. Detecting Function

The monitoring module of the power system is able to perform real time detection
of distribution module parameters, rectifier module parameters, environmental
parameters, and standby digital parameters.

(1) Distribution module parameters: AC input voltage, bus voltage, total load current
of the module, current of battery group, circuit breaker status of load 1, circuit
breaker status of battery 1, status of load power off, status of battery power off.

(2) Rectifier module parameters: working status of each module (on operation/off
operation, failure, power off, and fan failure).

(3) Environmental parameters: detecting battery temperature, ambient temperature


and humidity, smoke alarm, gate magnetic switch alarm, waterlogging alarm, and
distribution frame status according to the sensor installation conditions.

(4) Standby parameters: seven standby digital parameters.

4. Battery Automatic Management Function

The monitoring module of the power system has professional battery automatic
management function to ensure battery groups in the system are always working
under good conditions.

5. Protection Function against Loss of Power

In case of loss of power in monitoring module, the configured parameters can be


maintained. If the default configuration and control mode are desired to use,
restoration of default configuration command can be sent by the host.

1.5.3 Background Monitoring Parameter Table of the Power System

If the communication protocol is completely realized, the power system parameters


that can be set, viewed, and controlled by the users are shown in Table 1-4.

1.6 System Specifications

Operation altitude: 0~2000m (above 2000m, operation at derating state,


and the ambient temperature will derate 1℃ at 200m of altitude increase,
the maximum operating altitude is 4000m.

When the power supply system operates independently, input should bare
simulated lightning strike impact current waveform of 8/20μS, ±5 times
for impacts of 5KA amplitude, and the interval time of each testing
impacting is not less than 1min. If the power system is hit by a lightning
surge current even stronger than what is specified above, it will be
damaged and put out of function.
If higher lightning arresting class (Class C) is wanted, the outside
Lightning single-phase AC Class-C lightning arrester box (SPD23SZ or SPD25SZ
Arresting Function lightning arrester box produced in our company is recommended) is
needed at the input of the power system. With the outside lightning
arrester box, the input of the system should bare simulated lightning strike
voltage waveform of 10/700μS, ±5 times for impacts of 5KA, lightning
strike impact current waveform of 8/20μS, ±5 times for impacts of 20KA
amplitude, and the interval time of each testing impacting is not less than
1min. Also the lightning arrester box has auto-disengaged and recovery
protection function for input over-voltage (>295V~305V) to avoid the
system damage due to over-voltage.

Note:
1)The equipment cannot be transported in the whole-set mode, that is, the rectifier
module and monitoring module should not be installed in the system subrack during
the transportation. Otherwise, the equipment may be damaged.
2)Upon delivery, the rectifier module, monitoring module and system subrack are
all packed up separately for transportation. After unwrapping the package on-site,
please keep the packages for the use next time.

2.1 Requirements of Installation Environment

The environmental conditions listed in Table 2-1 should be considered when


choosing the installation field of the power supply.

The main radiation part of the system is rectifier module when the power system is
on operation. There is inner fan inside the rectifier module, a certain room should
be reserved in the front and the back of the module to provide ventilation and heat
radiation. At least 50mm space should be reserved in front of and in back of the
module to ensure the reliable operation of the module.

2.2 Power Supply Requirement

AC mains is preferred for the main power source for AC power supply, and use
single phase three wires. It must assure that protect grounding cable is reliable

grounding during operation. Copper core cable is preferred for AC input cable, the
section of the cable should adapt to the load. Try to use the stable AC power as the
power source. Unstable AC power may impact the operation of the power system
and decrease its life.

2.3 Safety Protection Requirement

There is a lightning arrester in the rectifier module, and can endure lightning strike
shock wave of 1.2/50us 6KV and 8/20us 3KA. To prevent direct lightning strike to
damage the rectifier module from the power supply cable, it is suggested to install
the Class C or B lightning arrester according to the related specifications before AC
mains is led into the power system.

2.4 Installation of System Components

During transportation, distribution frame for power system, rectifier modules and
monitoring module are separately packaged. During installation of the system, the
distribution frame should be installed first, and then the rectifier modules and
monitoring module can be installed sequent. The illustration of installation can refer
to Fig.2-1.

2.4.1 Installation of System Subrack

Take out the subrack from the package and insert into its cabinet. Install the screws
in the four installation holes as shown in the Fig.2-1 above with a cross screwdriver.

2.4.2 Installation and Disassemble of Rectifier Module and Monitoring module

Take out the rectifier modules and monitoring module one by one from the packing.
The installation positions of these modules on the subrack are shown in Fig. 2-1.

1. Installation and Disassemble of Rectifier Module

Slowly push the rectifier module into its slot until the module ALM FAN-ALM RUN

is inserted into the system completely. The handle locking


button on the panel of the rectifier module will lockup the
rectifier module automatically and fix the module on the
subrack. When the number of rectifier module is less than
three, the installation of the rectifier module on the subrack
should accord to the sequence from left to right, and install
the blank panel on the rest empty positions. Handle HRS1150-9000

When removing the rectifier modules from the main cabinet,


first withdraw the handle on the panel of the module forth to let locking button break
away from the subrack, then pull the module out.

2. Installation and Disassemble of Monitoring module

Slowly push the monitoring module into its slot along the
guide rail until the connection terminals on the back of the
component are inserted into the corresponding sockets on
the motherboard of the main cabinet. The handle locking
button on the panel of monitoring module will lockup the

monitoring module automatically and fix the module on the MS

When removing the monitoring modules from the main


cabinet, first withdraw the handle on the panel of the module
forth to let locking button break away from the subrack, then pull the module out.

Note:
Rectifier module and monitoring module of the power supply system are of hot-plug
permissible, but their plug-in devices are precision locating components. So it
should not be energetically to avoid damaging the plug-in devices of the module.
Only the professional technicians are allowed to replace the module with power on.

2.5 External Electrical Connection of Power System

The power system is front cable access system, and all electrical connections are
done through the front panel of the system power distribution unit and the
monitoring module.

Note:
The system wiring should be done by trained technicians.

2.5.1 Connections of Power Distribution Cables

Power distribution cables include: System AC input cable, system battery input
cable, and system DC output cable. The cable terminals are located on the front
panel of the system power distribution unit, as shown in Fig 2-2.

Note:
Before the connection of power distribution cables:
1) Be sure that the AC input is cut off. Otherwise it will under the danger of getting
an electric shock.
2) Be sure that all the control switches of the power distribution frame are set power
off position (pulled downwards)。

1. System AC Input Cable Connections

As illustrated in Fig. 2-2, the terminals for AC input cable of the power system are
on the left side of the system, symbols are AC-L, AC-N, and separately,
among which L connects with live wire, N connects with zero line, connects
with protecting ground. Before connection, remove the transparent cover on the
power distribution panel, and take out the bolt on small baffle on top of the
terminals corresponding to the AC connections mark,then take out the small baffle
along the arrowhead direction. AC connection cable terminal is equipped with M4
connection bolt, AC cable can select OT-4 series connection terminal, protecting
ground connection terminal is equipped with M5 connection bolt, and specifications
or model of terminals and cables shall be selected according to the actual load. The
recommended model for the connection cable and terminals under full configuration
can refer to Table 2-2.

1) AC input line is high voltage operating line. Be sure that the AC input is cut off
before implementing any operations. Warning signs shall be tagged to the switches
that should not be touched during operating process.
2) The capacity of AC input circuit breaker inside the power system is 63A, and the
capacity of the AC control switch configured outside the power system should be no
less than 63A to avoid the trip skip a grade.
3) AC circuit terminals and other unnecessary bare parts must be well insulated.
4) The baffle and the bolt on top of the connection terminal should be reverting to

2. System DC Cables Connections

As illustrated in Fig. 2-2, the terminals for DC cable of the power system are on the
right side of the system, symbols are “BATT.(-)”, “LOAD(-)”, “BATT(+)”, and
“LOAD(+)”.

Before connection, remove the transparent cover on the power distribution panel,
and take out the small baffle on top of the terminals corresponding to the DC
connections mark along the arrowhead direction.

“BATT.(-)” represents connection position of battery voltage negative, its


corresponding connection terminal symbol is “B1B2”, which represents connection
positions of voltage negative of battery group 1 and battery group 2 separately. The
corresponding control circuit breaker is shown as 2 in Figure 2-2, marked as “BATT
63A”.

“BATT.(+)” represents connection position of battery voltage positive, its


corresponding connection terminal symbol is “++”, which represents connection
positions of voltage positive of battery group 1 and battery group 2 separately.

“LOAD.(-)” represents connection position of load voltage negative, its


corresponding connection terminal symbols are “1-2-3-”, “B2-3-”, and “4-4-”, which
represent connection positions of voltage negative of load 1, 2, 3, 4 and emergency
lighting equipment (B) separately. The electric performances of the connection
terminals with the same symbol are parallel relations, and user can use selectively.
The corresponding control circuit breakers are shown as 3, 4, 5, and 6 in Figure 2-2,
marked as “LOAD1 10A”, “LOAD2 20A”, “LOAD3 20A”, and “LOAD4 50A”. The
connection terminal with symbol “B” can be used as the connection terminal for
emergency lighting equipment, and it has the parallel relationship with the
connection terminal “B1B2” of battery voltage negative, and is not controlled by the
load circuit breaker.

“LOAD.(+)” represents connection position of load voltage positive, its


corresponding connection terminal symbols are all “+”, and used with the
connection terminals of load voltage negative together. The specifications for each
connection terminals are shown in Table 2-3.

1) Connection of Load Cables

The specifications and model of the cables shall be selected according to the
actual load. Wiring shall meet the engineering design requirements. The
installation process is as following:

a. Be sure that each load circuit breaker corresponding to the distribution unit
are all on the disconnection state.

b. Connect the “+” end of the load to the corresponding connection terminal of
“LOAD(+)”.

c. Connect the “-” end of the load to the corresponding connection terminal of
“LOAD(-)”.

2) Connections of the Battery

Specifications and model of cables shall be selected according to the battery


capacity. Wiring shall meet the engineering design requirements. The
connection process is as follows:

a. Prepare positive connection cables and negative connection cables (including


terminals and polarity identifications ready).

b. Be sure that the battery circuit breaker corresponding to the distribution unite
is on the disconnection state.

c. Tie the positive and negative connection cables separately.

d. Connect one end of positive connection cable to the “BATT.(+)” cable


terminal.

e. Connect one end of negative connection cable to the “BATT.(-)” cable


terminal.

f. Connect the other end of positive connection cable to the positive of the
battery.

g. Connect the other end of negative connection cable to the negative of the
battery.

Note:
1. Before connecting the battery, please note the polarity. It is strictly forbidden to
connect the battery to the power system with the mismatching polarity.
2. At the instant of connecting battery negative to “BATT” of connection terminals,
faint electric arc may occur, the situation is normal.
3. In order to prevent short circuit accident during operation, strict insulation
measures between body and tool must be taken when adding load with DC power
on.

3. The Fastness of Distribution Cables (optional)

There is a fixing board accessory in the packing box of distribution frame, it is


mainly used for the fixing of the system external connection cables. User can select
whether to install according to the demanding. The fixing board is installed on the
bottom of the power distribution frame, and the result after installation is shown in
Fig.2-3.

As shown in above figure, pin 1 and 2 of the terminal connects with GND, pin 3 is
sending end of TXD, and pin 4 is receiving end of RXD.

There is a signal interface transfer cable in the accessory of the signal transfer box.
The cable can transfer the mouse interface to a standard RJ45 interface. The
communication mode remains RS232, with the pin definition same as that of the
communication port MS.

3. DB37 signal port:

This port must be used together with signal transfer box. The detailed information
can refer to “ 2.6.1 Installation of Signal Transfer Box”.

Note:
1) The communication cable must use shielding cable.
2) The two communication ports operate in the active-standby mode. When there
are data flows on both ports, the monitoring module responds only to MS.

2.6 The Installation and Connection of the System Accessories

2.6.1 Installation of Signal Transfer Box

The mechanical size of signal-transfer box is shown in Fig. 1-7, 1-8.

2.6.2 Connections between Signal Transfer Box and Monitoring Module or Sensors

Signal transfer box W1A431Z1 and W1A431Z2 are the same except size and
appearance. Signal transfer box is mainly used for the connections with monitoring
module and external sensors. Open the cover of the signal transfer box, the inside
connection ports for the sensor connection can be seen, the model for plug-in
devices and the recommended connection cable for each connection port are
shown in Table 2-4.

Connect the smaller end of the cable inside the transfer box package to DB37
interface on the monitoring panel of the system, and the other end to the transfer
box.

Note:
It had better conduct the cable connection under the conditions of the system
power off. If connection is conducted when the system is power on, it should first
connect the cable to the signal transfer box, then connect it to the power supply.

Pay attention to that put the temperature probe in the place that can display the
whole ambient temperature of the battery in the battery room, and cannot connect
with the other heating equipment.

2.7 Installation Checking

1. Installation checking: check the stability of subrack, check the stability of each
component.

2. AC input and distribution checking: check the conformity of colors of AC lines


according to the standard, check whether the original wiring of rack is loosened,
and check the completeness of safety identification of distribution part. Check the
consistency of AC wiring and wire application according to the design documents.

3. Check DC output and battery connections, connection numbering, line sequence,


and polarity. Check the firmness of cable connection. Check the correct and reliable
connection of bus bar. Check again the polarity and sequence of battery
connections.

4. After installation, check to make sure that all switches of circuit breaker on the
panel of distribution unit are on the disconnection position (pull downwards) to
insure the safety

the Power System

3.1 First Power On

Power systems have been tested strictly in the factory before delivery. After the
installation of the power system , the following shall be inspected carefully before
the first power on.

■ Check that the connections of AC input cables, DC output cables, and battery
cables are secured, and that all the screws are not loose.

■ Check to make sure that all circuit breakers on the distribution module are off
(pulled downwards).

■ Testing with a universal meter to insure that there is not any short circuit
phenomenon in the AC input and the output terminals.

■ Check the connection between DC output and battery, check the numbering,
line sequence and polarity. Check the firm connection of cable terminals. Check to
make sure of the correct and reliable connection of bus bar. Check again the
polarity and sequence of battery connection.

After above inspections, the system can now be tested with first power on.

1. Turn on the AC power for the power system. Measure the voltage of AC input
with universal meter at terminals of L, N. If the AC power supply is abnormal, check
the AC power source.

2. When AC power is confirmed to be normal, close AC input circuit breaker of


distribution module (push upwards). After a short delay of start-up, all operation
indicators (green) on the panels of rectifier modules should be on. And the RUN
indicator (green) of the monitoring module shall be flashing continuously, ALM
indicators (red) should be on (the monitoring module will send out alarms since
some switches are not closed).

3. Check the polarity and terminal voltage of “BATT(+)” and “BATT(-)” with a
universal meter (about 53V). If it is normal, close control circuit breaker of battery
branch and connect the battery into the system.

4. Close control circuit breaker of load branch, the power system will power supply
to the communication load.

If all above results are normal, it means that the power system is working under
normal conditions and the next step of testing can be conducted.

3.2 System Operation

After installation and testing of GIE 4820/3A/3.45KW power system, it is ready for
use. It can be put into normal operation through simple power on operations when
needed. Power on process is given below:

Start → System Inspection → Turn-on AC Power → Rectifier Modules Working


→ Cut-in Load → End

The fan may be run then stop when powers the module on for the first time, and it
is normal because the fan adopts fan velocity adjusting technology. With some
loads, the inner temperature of the module will increase after operation for a period
of time, then the fan begin to run and it will speed up along with the increase of
inner temperature to insure the normal operation of the module.

Note:
To make sure the module cannot be damaged in some abnormal states,
over-temperature protection circuit is adopted inside the module. After a period
operation, the inner temperature of the module may be a little higher, turn off the
module at this time and then turn on the module, the module may have no output. It
is normal because the over-temperature protection circuit inside is working. 1~2
minutes later, the output of the module will recovery after the inner temperature
decreases.
If the fan does not run, and it still does not start over 5 minutes with the fan alarm
indicator is on, then the module may be damaged for long operation, and please
contact the technical service department of our company.

3.3 System Testing

It is not necessary to test AC over-voltage and AC under-voltage alarms and


protections, because they have been tested strictly in the factory.

3.3.1 Setting of Communication Address of Monitoring Module

When the communication protocol between the monitoring module and the host
adopts “Master/Slave Node Communication Protocol between PSM-B9
Monitoring Module and the Host”, the communication address of the monitoring
module needs setting.

The communication address of the monitoring module is set as following through


the dial switcher on the monitoring main-board that locates on the position of S1 in
the middle of the monitoring main board (pull out the installed monitoring module).
It has eight bits, and the lower four bits are effective. ON—1, OFF—0, BIT0—low
bit, BIT3--high bit, binary scale, the corresponding relationships is:

When the communication protocol is “Access Network Communication Protocol


between PSM-B9 Monitoring Module and the Host”, the communication address of
the monitoring module does not need setting.

3.3.2 Setting of System Parameters

Upon delivery, the default setting parameters of the monitoring module may be
inconsistent with the scene or custom of users’ demanding. So users should look
over and reset the configuration parameters of the power system through the host.
Then the normal operation and function testing of the power system can be
conducted after the correct parameters setting.

Detailed parameters can refer to Table 1-3.

Note:
When conduct system parameters setting through the host:
1. It must insure that the address parameters setting of the power system is
identical with the communication address set by the dial switch in 3.3.1 section,
otherwise the communication will be failed.
2. It must insure that the number of the rectifier module in the power system is
identical with the actual condition. Add to or remove the rectifier module from the
power system, it must re-modify the number setting of the rectifier module to make
sure according with the actual number. Otherwise the rectifier module alarm will
occur.

3.3.3 Testing of Battery Auto-Management

Power supply the load by the battery, cut off AC mains for above 15 minutes (±1
minute) then recover AC mains, all of the rectifier modules will be automatically in
current-limiting equalized charge state.

During the current-limiting equalized charge state of the module, it is normal that its
output voltage sometimes is below 53.5V.

Because the testing of battery auto-management requires strict for the system state,
it is not necessary to test battery auto-management, and the system has been
tested strictly in the factory before delivery.

3.3.4 On/Off Testing of the Module

Set the control module as background control through the host, and control on/off
of each module, and the corresponding module should act correctly.

Pay attention to changing the control mode to the automatic control module after
the testing is finished.

3.3.5 Under-voltage Alarm and Power Off Testing

Cut off AC power, and supply power to load using batteries. Set DC under voltage
threshold, load shutdown voltage, and battery shutdown voltage to higher values (to
shorten the test duration). Then observe the alarm for battery under-voltage alarm,
shutdown for battery and load. The monitoring module sends out the alarms for DC
under voltage, load shutdown and battery shutdown one by one. Red indicators on
the panel of monitoring module shall be on, and control the dry contact of external
alarm sound-light alarm equipment to output superior alarm signal.

Recover the AC power, and restore the settings of under voltage threshold, load
shutdown voltage, and battery shutdown voltage, then above alarms should
disappear.

3.3.6 Testing of Module on Operation

Set the power system address and the number of the rectifier module correctly,
insert and pull the rectifier module one by one, the background equipment should
display the communication state of corresponding module correctly.

3.3.7 Alarm for Disconnection of Battery Circuit Breaker

Connect the battery to the system, then disconnect its circuit breaker. The
background equipment should give alarm on the disconnection of the
corresponding battery circuit breaker. The alarm will disappear when the breaker is
closed.

3.3.8 Alarm for Disconnection of Load Circuit Breaker

Connect the load to the system, then disconnect its circuit breaker. The background
equipment should give alarm on the disconnection of the corresponding load circuit
breaker. The alarm will disappear when the breaker is closed.

3.3.9 Alarm Testing on Gate Magnetic, Smoke and Waterlogging

If sensors for gate magnetic, smoke and waterlogging have been installed, change
the status of sensors. The background equipment should give the corresponding
alarms.

Note:
1) If the terminal of corresponding load and battery circuit does not connect with
load or battery during testing stage, on its midair state, the alarm of circuit breaker
disconnection for corresponding load or battery cannot be reported accurately.
2) Be sure that system configurations are restored to normal status after testing.

3.3.10 Viewing Operating Information

After the power is on, simple operating information can be viewed via indicators on
the monitoring panel. For detailed information must be looked over through the
background monitoring.

3.3.11 Canceling Battery Protection

If the user thinks it is more important to keep power supply to loads than to protect
the battery, and battery protection in case of AC outage is not desired, load and
battery shutdown permission state or battery shutdown permission state can be set
to no-permission state via the host.

Note:
When battery is discharged to protection value, the time for continued power supply
is very short. It is impossible to obtain the long time operation of loads with battery
sacrificed.

3.4 Routine Maintenance of the System

3.4.1 Inspection and Repair of Fan and Dust Mesh of the Rectifier Module

Dust will accumulate on the baffle plate after the rectifier works in dusty and windy
environment for a long period. To ensure long-term reliable and smooth operation
of the rectifier, it is necessary to clean the fan and baffle plate regularly.

Fan is wastage device, and it must be cleaned and replaced after it works for a
certain period. Fan replacing method: first unscrew the screws on the top right
corner of the fan to remove it, and then disconnect power cable. Do not touch the
devices within the rectifier module with hand during the cleaning or replacement.

Note:
1. Just the person who has been strictly trained professionally is capable of
cleaning and replacing the fan.
2. It is recommended to clean the fan once every 6 months, and replace the fan
with a new one after 3-5 years.

3.4.2 Emergent Process of the Rectifier Module

1. Internal Short-circuit of the Module

The module can be exit from the system automatically when its internal is
short-circuited.

2. Output Over-voltage of the Module

After the module outputs over-voltage due to some reasons, the output of the
module will be locked up. Then the AC input of the module should be cut off until
the indicators are off and the power source can be turned on. If the over-voltage
still exists, the module may be damaged and need replacing.

For multi-module parallel working state, if the load is light, then one module
over-voltage will cause all the modules are in over-voltage state. Then it need
inserting the module one by one and powers on to test the failure module. The
failure module is replaced after it has been confirmed.
