formal registers in these situations because these are not just an ordinary events so we need to write and

My Cultural Experience
The world where we live right now is becoming a one global city. Cultures and beliefs of
different people from different parts of the world interact because of the fact that the barriers no
longer exist, borderless. Yet, though we are being blend together, still there is cultural diversities.
It is then a need for us to adapt to the various cultural differences in order to maintain a peaceful
and good relationship with them. It should come as no surprise then that the experience that I
have had with other cultures have only served to enrich my experience.
I've never been in other countries, but I was able to socialize with people who have these
different culture as mine. I am a Seventh Day Adventist and I used to meet missionaries coming
from different countries. I remember the first time I met them,I was still in Junior Highschool
way back then. I had a hard time talking with them. They are Ettopian, Japanese, and American.
Although they can speak English, still it is difficult. The American spoke in a very slang manner,
while the Ettopian and Japanese were not that fluent. Also, the way they dress. They used to
wear a very long dress when going to church which is very diffrent as mine. There were also
many different patterns of speech and practices coming from them but soon enough I was able to
become comfortable talking to them and build bond which leads to a formation of great
friendship.
When I was in Senior HighSchool, I found my self in the company of Indian students. I stayed in
an apartment with them. At first I was aloof with them until such time that we became friends. I
remember the time that I joined them during their meal because I wanna try their food. And I do
not know what is the right word to describe their food. Its totally different. It is full of spices that
I just want to spew but I can't because I am with them. Also, some people say that they have a
bad body odor because they don't take a bath. Well, they are all wrong, they have that odor
because of the food they eat I guess. At first, I really hate their odor specially when they pass by,
but later on I get used to it.
This experience has taught me a valuable lesson especially when dealing with people from other
cultures. There is no barrier so difficult to overcome that patience and understanding cannot
hurdle.
According to the article I read, it is true that there is so much more in life that can be learned
when one learns to open himself or herself up to other people and their cultures. The world does
not revolve around a single race or a single country, it is composed of a rich tapestry of
similarities and contrasts and that is what makes the experience so beautiful. The key therefore
lies in being able to act locally yet think globally, as my experience has shown.
