Lesson Plan in ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE

DATE: March 12, 2019 SECTION: Forgiveness Time: 02:10-03:05

LEARNING CONTENT:

I. OBJECTIVES: At the end of the performance, the learners will be able to:
 Familiarize with electrical tools/ equipment and electrical materials
according to its uses and functions.
 Observe carefully safety precautionary measures in actual installation.
 Assemble 3 bulbs in series and parallel circuit/connection properly

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

Series and Parallel Circuit: (3 bubs connected in series and parallel circuit)

K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum Technology and Livelihood Education Learning Module

Materials:

 # 14 stranded wire, receptacles/lamp holder, screw, bulbs, single pole switch, male plug and plywood

Tools/ Equipment:

 Pliers, Wire striper, Screwdrivers, Ruler , Gloves, Multi-tester

III. PREPARATION:

A. DAILY ROUTINE: ( Prayer, Greetings, Checking of Attendance )

B. REVIEW OF THE PREVIOUS LESSON : Simple Recall
 The teacher will show some electrical materials and let the learners identify it.
Correct answer will be flashed on the screen.
C. MOTIVATION:
 The teacher will flash pictures of tools or equipment, then let the learners guess what kind of
tools are they, let them say something about their uses and functions.
 Teacher will play a video about SAFETY PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES inside a classroom.
D. DISCUSSION OF THE LESSON
1. Series Circuit is a circuit in which lamps are arranged in a chain, so that the current has only one path to
take. The current is the same through each load. Example of this is the Christmas lights. It consists of a
number of bulbs that are connected side by side to meet the voltage requirement which is 220 volts for
alternating current.

2. Parallel Circuit is a circuit in which lamps are connected across the wires. The
voltage across each load on parallel circuit is the same. The advantage of using
parallel circuit is that even if one of the lamps fails, still the remaining lamps will
function.

E. APPLICATION:
 Let the learners get their tools, equipment and materials
 Let the learners connect 3 bulbs in series/ parallel by groups by following the circuit diagram
that will be flashed on screen.
 Remind the learners to observe safety measures at all time.

IV. EVALUATION:
 The learners will rate their output based on the rubrics presented on screen.
 The teacher also evaluate the learners based on a scoring rubrics flashed on the screen.

F. VALUING:
 THE LEARNERS SHOULD BE ABLE TO ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:
1. As a student, what made this activity helpful to you?
2. Which part of activity would challenge you most? How did you overcome it?
3. Why is it important to follow safety measures before you are going to perform an activity?

G. GENERALIZATION:
 Connecting bulbs in series and parallel is not an easy task, there are some factors to be
considered such as:
1. To know all the uses and functions of electrical Tools/Equipment
2. The quality of materials needed in installation
3. The methods and techniques to save your time, energy and effort
4. Constant practice and following the safety precautionary measures in order to prevent
injuries or even accidental death.

V. ASSIGNMENT:

Follow Up Assignment: Practice connecting series or parallel connection at home.

Advance Assignment: Read pages 436 – 437 and answer the following question below:

1. What are the Common Splice Wire Joints?

2. Cut out pictures of each of the Common Splice Wire Joints and paste them on your
notebook.
