PREAMBLE OF THE PHILIPPINES CONSTITUTION

We, the sovereign Filipino people, imploring the aid of Almighty God, in order to build a just and humane
society, and establish a Government that shall embody our ideals and aspirations, promote the common good,
conserve and develop our patrimony, and secure to ourselves and our posterity, the blessings of independence
and democracy under the rule of law and a regime of truth, justice, freedom, love, equality, and peace, do ordain
and promulgate this Constitution.
1.) Define the Following:

Culture - Is an umbrella term which encompasses the social behavior and norms found in human
societies, as well as the knowledge, beliefs, arts, laws, customs, capabilities and habits of the individuals
in these groups.

Society - A society is a group of individuals involved in persistent social interaction, or a large


social group sharing the same geographical or social territory, typically subject to the same political
authority and dominant cultural expectations

Politics - the activities associated with the governance of a country or other area, especially the
debate or conflict among individuals or parties having or hoping to achieve power.

Political Science - Political science is a social science which deals with systems of governance,
and the analysis of political activities, political thoughts, and political behavior.

Anthropology - the study of human societies and cultures and their development.

Sociology - the study of the development, structure, and functioning of human society. The study
of social problems.

2.) What are the goals of Anthropology, Sociology and Political science?

Anthropology - The main goal of Anthropology is to understand and explain human history and
activity from a social, biological, and evolutionary point of view. Anthropologists study the different
cultural expressions and linguistic systems of different social groups and how they're connected by
similarities and differences.

Sociology - Besides its attention to some of the forgotten groups in the social world, sociology is
distinctive for its focus on relationships, interactions, social processes, and contexts. Important
learning goals of this unit include understanding the types of relationships sociologists study, between
what social units.

Political Science - The mission and goals of Political Science is to continually improve and
protect the quality of life within a group, community, state, country, or the world. Political Science is the
study of power relationships.
