Reflection paper for Seminar on Labor Laws and Practices in the Philippines

Our seminar was held at Sairah Gel Catering Services Function Hall, National
Highway, Cateel, Davao Oriental, Philippines last October 31, 2019. This seminar
entitled "Seminar on Labor Laws and Practices in the Philippines" with the resource
speaker Mr. Jireh Jan D. Besana and Bryan Jay E. Bagnol.
Being part of this seminar is an honor as a BSBA student which is part also of
our studies in line as a future Financial Manager or even more. Most importantly, the
major topic is talked about Labor laws and Practices in the Philippines which is very
relevant when it comes to engaging both being employee and employer sides. As
I've learned his discussion it was provided very clear examples that must be easy for
us to understand, with interesting and valuable topics. Both sides of employees and
employers should know their rights for them to meet productive ways of working with
each other. However, in part of being an employee working employer is that
employees are more objectively to their rights and also privileges because they work
for a good reason, and in the future, they could be benefited to their job in the right
way of providing services in the company. And if I were to be an employer I must be
responsible and accountable to my employees providing necessary needs that would
deserve based on their performance. Besides, labor standards help us to define
more about rights and benefits, otherwise employer must know what are those
responsibilities needs to attain that would satisfy the employees, and it couldn't
cause conflicts. A productive way of working with each other as a result will build a
strong foundation relationship between employee and employer. As we all know
there are some cases like this was happening which is having a conflict between
employee and employer due to some reasons. For me, since I was part of this
seminar I impart myself to learn and even more to be aware of that would happen in
the future, and I use that awareness with rights and responsibilities.
Therefore I conclude that taking responsibility and having rights is sometimes
useless because the employer is more powerful and superior than the employee, but
in the eyes of law, everyone is all equal. And one of the examples is labor standards
which help us to know more about our rights and responsibilities.
