The corporate experience is very new for me, and I’m learning something new each and every
day. I have experienced the corporate life is very different from student life and a very few this is
similar. The schedule seems tough first few days, but it gets adjusted over time.

 Key issue / event of the week


Our company received a heavy order from Spain few days ago. Mrs. Venessa Pena form
Spain visited our office and placed the order. This is the very first order the company has
received after I started working here. I got to see the entire process how an order is placed
in a garment buying house.
First, the buyer communicates with Managing Director through e-mail. If they agree with
the terms, the buyer pays a visit to the office and meets the Managing Director with the
order details, requirements and financial matter, and finalizes the deal.

 Activities / responsibilities I have carried


As my designation is “Intern - Operations” I got to do almost everything, on a surface
level. For example, if the supervisor is busy with a task, and a fax is needed to be sent, I
send that fax. Sometimes I cooperate the quality controller in the measurement and
folding of the cloths. My supervisor is currently teaching me how to reply emails on
business purpose, so that he can assign me in this task in future.

I never used a fax machine before, and I learned using fax machine and send faxes this
week.
I could not fold cloths before. I could, but the cloths used to get a football shape after I
folded them. I learned to fold cloths, and now I can fold shirts the way my supervisor
taught me.
I am also learning to compose and reply emails that is designated to the managers of
other companies.
 Indication of theory that I can relate while working at the office
I did the course MGT 321 (Organizational Behavior), and I’m currently trying to relate
the environment around me to relate with the lessons of that course. How the authority
handles turnover rate and absenteeism of the employees. Although my internship is not in
Human Resource department, but I always try to related the activities with my HR
lessons as well. I was supposed to go through a training, but I did not receive it yet, and
according to my lesson, that is an identification of weak HR team.

 Problem that I have identified


So far, I could not identify any problem. I have heard that all the deals (orders) do not get
finalized at the end. I do not know if it is a problem or not, but without this one, I could
not find out anything else so far.

 Suggestion for the area to improve operation


Out of my knowledge in business studies, I could suggest the authority to impose the rule
of full formal dress-up in office, but to be very Honest, this is what I like the most about
this office. The management checks if the work is done or not at the end of the day, and
nobody is that concerned about outfit. Even I saw my supervisor working in business
casual outfit, in loafers, black jeans, and shirts.
I believe over time I would be able to find out more areas where the efforts could be
increased, and I’d suggest those to my authority.
