Spring 2020 Schedule Preparation

Using your 8 semester path, degree audit, schedule booklet, and the LSU General Catalog, list the courses you
anticipate scheduling for the spring 2020 semester.

Helpful hints:
- Be mindful of your critical course(s)
- The recommended path is simply a recommendation – many courses, particularly general education
and electives, are flexible and can be taken in a semester other than the one recommended. Always
check with your advisor!
- Check pre-requisites in the catalog
- Carefully check times to ensure chosen courses do not overlap
- You should still plan on meeting with your advisor, but going in with a plan will make the process
much smoother!

 Certification Majors: If you are pursuing a major that does not have a competitive
postgraduation application process, review your schedule sheet. Which courses will be most
challenging for you (and why), and what campus resources, learning strategies, or people can
you use to support your success in these courses in the spring?

 Competitive Admission Majors: What are the admission (not graduation) requirements for the
program you are considering? What GPA is required, and what GPA will you need to be
competitive (if they are different)? Explain what other requirements you will need to complete
(such as job shadowing, entrance exams, required courses, a personal statement, letter of
recommendation, etc.) and how and when will you complete these requirements? When is the
application deadline, and how many times a year are applications accepted? Do you have a
parallel plan for an alternative major or career in case you are not accepted?
