B. Work Profile
I was hired by the company as an intern for marketing and product management
for 8 weeks. The things that were to be done during my internship was:
Working Day & Hours – Monday to Friday from 11:00 Am to 5:00 Pm.

the company. The following products were made by the company
are:
v Renial
v Dani
v Georgette
v Cotton Finish
v Chiffon Fabric
v Viscose Vichitra
I was already aware of the products because coming from my family
business I have seen what all types of product are made and sold
locally. I also had opportunity to sit in one of the presentation that
was presented by my boss on the local competitors of their company.
We were told to do research on the products that was made by our
competitors. Now we need to call the respective companies to know
what all product they were offering to the market. We also took our
mentor help and our presentation was made at the end of the week.
Week 3
It was not an easy job to call and ask for their time cause people are
not free and it was difficult as people does not want to waste their
time to listening to the strangers. After such hard work we were able
to deliver the main competitors of our organisation, which are:
Ø Vaishali
19
Ø Omtex
Ø Viraj Fashion
These were the companies that were selling the same products what
our company has to offer at a competitive price.
Later on the week we were asked to make Excel. They had the client
name and number in unorganized way. I was asked to prepare a excel
sheet were I was need to make a organized list of clients in the excel
sheets according to product wise. It was tough to prepare because I
was need to prepare the excel sheet product wise. It took me the
whole week to prepare six excel sheet.
Week 4 & Week 5
Fourth and fifth week of my internship was quite interesting cause
we were going to do on field marketing. I was assigned with seven
other people for the same work. Our job was to move around the
market from every textile hub to every textile market to sell our
products. We were given samples for the products that was offered
by the company.
We had covered 5 textile markets in 8 days. We had divided our work
by making 4 groups each of 2 people, by assigning every group
respective floor, so there will be confusion and the work will be done
in an easy manner. As where we went there were many floors and
allocating one each floor was making job easily done. The markets we
covered are:
20
1. Surat textile market
2. Krishna textile market
3. HTC market
4. Millenium textile market
5. Textile tower market
At first it was really hard for me to communicate as people do not
pay attention to you as you are young. I remember it was very
difficult cause we needed to wait to meet person and it was really
hard to convince them to sell our product as the product offered by
us were offered by others at the same price or at a lower price.
After so much of pain we were able to take order for some products
from the traders by making understand them that our company
belief in quality products and we value our customers. I have learnt a
lot from the person whom I was assisting. The skills or things that I
might have learnt fro him was:
§ How to make people listen to you
§ How you should offer your products
§ When to speak and when not to
This week was something that I had never thought I would be able to
communicate to so many people.
21
Week 6
This week was also based on communication and interaction skills. I
was told to handle their existing clients. It involved lot of interaction
with their clients. I was given task to talk to new clients that have
recently bought our product and my work was to get feedback from
the them.
I have talked around more than 20 clients and I was able to handle
communication myself. What I have seen that people were happy and
satisfied for what they have paid money for.
Week 7
This week I went to see the production process of the organisation. I
had requested my boss to allow me to get to know their production
process. Seeing my performance and my interest into their business
they allowed me to get to know their production process. Their
factory was loacated 10 kms away from their office.
When I reach there I met the plant manager who showed me around
the plant. He asked me to note down everything cause dyeing
involves lots of process. He showed me around the plant and
explained me what all departments are there. Firstly he showed me
22
how they procure the raw materials and what all raw materials are
needed for dyeing purpose. The list of raw material required are:
Ø Colors and chemical
Ø Grey cloth
Ø Loose ignite
Ø Imported coal
Ø Water
I asked him that where did they get their raw materials from. He said
that colors and chemical are imported from the china cloth and coal
are bought locally and for water they had supply in the industrial
area. Then he also told me that they had water treatment plant so
that they could use water again and again.
Week 8
This week included lot of theory knowledge. He explained me what
all machines are required for dyeing purpose. The list of machines I
had noted down were:
1. Drum Machine
2. Stenter
3. Jet Machine
4. Zero Zero Machine
5. Loop machine
6. Printing Machine
7. Batching Machine
23
I was given brief knowledge about all these machines, which were
used for the production. Later on the production process was
explained to me.
Grey cloth Washing Dyeing
Finishing Printing Thermosetting
Zero Zero
Finished Cloth
I had a lot of doubt that I had clarified with him. It was really nice
experience for me to know how systematically they did the work. I
also had chance to talk to the labour working on the production floor.
I have interacted with him for some time. This week was quite
relaxed and I have learnt a lot from them about various aspect and
techniques of dyeing and printing.
24
Analysis of the weeks
The work i did during my summer internship has helped me to
increase my potential and also it has polished my technical skills.
Now I also had idea how a dyeing and printing mill is to be run.
The people and other staff of the organisation were much friendly
and gave us the opportunity to learn new things. Also the calm and
proper working environment has developed lot of inner skills inside
me for professional life. The technical skills like Communication,
preparing presentation, making excel sheet and on field marketing
had really helped to grow my skills. My mentor also made me
understood the value of time, cause on my first day I was late and he
handed me over to make presentation on the time management.
The internship also helped me to improved my research skills, which
are now days most important for a business. Being introvert earlier I
was unable talk to any stranger swiftly but after my internship I was
able to talk to strangers easily because communicating with so many
people and clients has made me to improve my communication with
the strangers and people around me.
Also I have learned to listen to others first then to speak. I had also
made many connection my own in the market. I have seen that it is
important for one to make and build relationship to carry out the
business. Everything I have learnt from my internship will surely be
useful in my future life.

Key Learning From the Internship
In our Personal development planning class we were taught about
identifying your own strength, my value and what is the work
culture(Goodreads.com, 2019). We were taught time management, which
taught us that managing time will help you to be more productive,
less stressful and more success in life (Corporate Finance Institute, 2019).
Though I was never good at managing time. We were also taught
about the attributes of leader and also we were taught how meetings
are supposed to take place and what were the points that’s should be
focused during meeting (Briantracy.com, 2019). The things taught us really
helped me on my internship. I would also like to express my
gratitude towards Ms. Elora basumatary who have guided me
throughout my module.
The things that I have learnt or key learning during my internship
are:
In ones professional life Time management most important thing
that one should remember. I have also learnt that managing my time
will make me a better and punctual person in life.
Ø I have also understand the importance of team work during my
internship.
Ø I have also learnt that one should be a good listener. As you
should never interrupt someone when they are speaking.
Ø Coming out of comfort zone is another thing that I have learnt
from internship. There were times when I didn’t want to do
work given to me but doing that work have made me realized
that coming outside my comfort zone has really evolved me.
26
Ø Sales being tough job you might get insulted but you need to
stay tuff and carry on your work.
Ø Being kind and respectful was another thing that I have learnt.
The staff in my organisation was way more than friendly and
helpful.
Ø I have learnt about their production process and the machine
used in production in depth, which will help me in future in my
family business.
Ø Most important thing I have learnt was being a effective
communicator.
I can really see change within my self, what I was before my
internship and what am I today.
