sions can not be used.
ƒ This version can also be used for the configuration of the FPA-5000 Rel. 1.3 and
earlier
ƒ When opening old configurations with RPS version, they can’t be opened anymore
with previous versions

Steps to follow at networking configuration

ƒ Design the network layout
ƒ Set physically the rotary and dip switches on every node
ƒ Program the network in RPS

2.1 Design the network layout

Very important.
If this is not done properly the network setting might not be done
correctly, like
ƒ address and dip switch setting
ƒ wrong assignment of CAN wires between the node

If this is done well, the user will save time at all stages to follow.

Things to do / define:
ƒ Loop or bus topology?
ƒ Will group scope be used? If yes, how many groups?
ƒ Network scope used? If yes, which nodes?
ƒ Draw down the nodes and assign the single address to the single node (same
group address for all nodes in the same group, only different sub-address)
ƒ Draw down the cables connecting the different nodes and assign a number to
every wire
ƒ Printer etc.: is it used for all nodes or only for specific?

2.2 Set physically the rotary and dip switches on every node

For more examples in more detail about the setting of the rotary switches at different
topologies see in documents recommended above.
Below you find an excerpt of the most important topologies.

In RPS the following settings for networking have to be assigned in RPS:

ƒ Insert nodes: Here 4
ƒ Assign node address for every node logical rotary switch in RPS (has to be the
same as physically set on the device!)
ƒ Assign the CAN cable setting

The configuration of the panel and the remote keypad differs partly.
Below the configuration of the panel is shown. Afterwards the configuration of the re-
mote keypad will be shown.

12 | FPA-5000 Level 2 – Release 2.0

2.3.1 Single steps

I Inserting all the nodes (panel and remote keypad)

‒ The OPC server can also be inserted. For the panel networking only the panel and
remote keypad is of relevance. This is why the OPC server shall not be mentioned
in this respect.
‒ Panel and remote keypad have to be inserted separately

II Configuring the single nodes

‒ Some differences exist at the configuration of the panel and the remote keypad.
Be aware of them.
‒ Here you assign
o the logical node address
o The rotary switches (have to match with the physical setting!)
o the scope (group or network)

III Assigning the CAN cables that connect the nodes

‒ Here you define the cables the CAN interfaces are connected to.
‒ The default setting of the cables can not be adopted. You need to assign the ca-
bles.
‒ This can be done automatically or manually.

ated automatically

1. Go to “Nodes” and press right

mouse button

2. Scroll down window appears.

Choose “Create FPA5000 Node”
to insert an FPA5000,
Choose “Create FMR-5000 Re-
mote Keypad” for RK

III Assigning the CAN cables that connect the nodes

With this setting you tell RPS how the single CAN1 and/or CAN2 interfaces are
connected to the other CAN1 and/or CAN2 interfaces. This is done by assigning
the exact cables that connect the various CAN interfaces.
Process:
ƒ Define for every CAN interface the cable it is physically connected to.
ƒ Do this for every node and every CAN connection of the nodes.
ƒ For every cable two interface connections have to be defined.
ƒ Use the drawing you have created before.
Attention: Be very careful and make sure this setting matches exactly to the set-
ting of the physical cables.

scroll down window “Create FMR-5000 Remote Key-
pad” instead of “Create FPA5000 Node”

II Configuring new nodes

Double click on the node

n Remote Keypad Data

In default this feature is checked.
Uncheck if installed in a “public” area and only
alarm messages shall be shown.

o Automatic connection
The remote keypad will connect automatically
to the panel assigned. It will also display auto-
to matically the messages from this panel.
Only possible to connect to a panel of the
same group.
III Assigning the CAN cables that connect the nodes

No difference to the configuration of the panel.

Topology report by RPS

RPS creates a topology report that shows the nodes and through which cables the
single nodes are connected. If the CAN cables (net interfaces) are not already as-
signed by the user, RPS creates a default topology automatically.
Attention: Criteria on how to assort the panels is the Panel number, not the Rotary
Switch number.

I Getting the topology report

1. Go to “Nodes”, right mouse click,

scroll down window will appear.
2. Select “Generate Topology Infor-
mation

The single nodes are shown, their type

(panel, RK), address, Rotary Switch
Number (RSN), their scope setting and
the cable there are connected to.
Cable connection:
It shows, which cable is connected to
which CAN interface of the node de-
vice.

II Changing / Editing the topology report

It is possible to have above created report changed with RPS. Simply change the setting
to the desired topology (loop, bus, bus with redundancy etc.).
Attention: The cable setting in RPS will not be done automatically when creating or chang-
ing the topology report. The cable setting still has to be done manually.

First create a record as shown above

1. At the report, click on “File”

2. On the drop down list select “Edit
Diagrams”

The drop down list shows all possible

topologies that can be assigned.

3. Programming in the panel network

3.1 General information

The configuration has to be downloaded into every node (OPC server not included) of
the panel network.
When changing the configuration of one panel, the changed configuration has to be
downloaded into every single panel again. It is not sufficient to download it only in the
panel that has been changed.
