Reasonable Faith
Introduction
The book i picked was written by William Lane Craig,an American Philosopher and Christian
Apologetic who has written numerous books in different fields like cosmology, philosophy and
theology to elucidate and justify the rationality of christian beliefs. In a society where more and
more people have rejected religious beliefs for being crude, dogmatic, irrational due to the
availability of a pantheon of Gods and according to to one of the four horsemen of atheism
Richard Dawkins, religion is merely a degenerative disease in the human condition,it is therefore
imperative we have people who defend the legitimacy of religious thought and principles on
which the very basis of modern society was built upon.By the droves people have resorted to
positive nihilism as a means to induce meaning to life due to the complacency of religious
institutions to address intellectual discrepancies in the doctrine of a number of various
religions. We have already seen the disastrous effect of secularism in the the Soviet Union
,Communist Republic of China and other states which strive to impose the godless ideologies of
marxist leninism to unprecedented levels which resulted in severe repercussions.Religious
diatribes argue that religion doctrines has caused a vast majority of human suffering and
misery. This is however a factual error given the fact estimates have shown that atheism in the
form of both Nazim and Communism have massacred(80+ million)more people in the 21st
century that wars caused by religious disputes is barely considered a fair comparison. According
to the Encyclopedia of War only 7 percent of all the wars fought on our planet were religious
wars while the rest of them were politically incentivised. This is not the only blatant lie that the
new atheism rhetoric purports . They have emphatically misinterpreted the entire doctrine of
judeo - christianity and have brainwashed a majority of the youth with arguments riddled with
logical fallacies. We already know that Europe’s decline can be attributed to it’s forfeiture of its
founding principles which were derived partly from free greek stoic philosophy but predominantly
from christian values.Germany by 2030 will no longer be a german country. What has happened
to the world?Has multiculturalism and liberalism benefited the world?By getting rid of God did we
really create a Utopian society .The most bizzare statement of them all was however made by the
self proclaimed spirituality leader of the New Atheism , Sam Harris who claimed that men who
committed sexual assault were going through evolutionary changes in their anatomy and were in
no way responsible for their actions. Is it just to tolerate such comments ,the Irony in it all is that if
a bible verse even hypothetically imply such a statement, it would have eventually resulted in
condemnation from the Secular community. We can clearly see the biggotory prevalent in our
society.
The entire introduction above gave us a glimpse why apologetics is a necessity in our broken
,hopeless world.Apologetics come from the Greek Word apologia(a defense).Apologetics is thus
1
a discipline which focuses on arguing for the validity of the bible and presenting christianity as a
logically rational and viable worldview.Apologetics have been preordained from the bible itself as
in the words of the apostle Peter quoted from 1 Peter 3:15-16”But in your Hearts set apart Christ
as Lord.Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who ask you to give the reason for
the hope that you have. But do it with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience,so that
those who speak maliciously against your good behaviour in Christ may be ashamed of their
slander”.The basic task of apologetics is to ensure that the bible's authenticity as God's word
cannot be questioned opening the doors to a revival of god fearing society.a society which would
truly be the long yearned for utopia.
Since the Book covers a lot of in depth subject matter I would however be devoting my book
review on two main agendas ie,1)is christianity true 2)the absurdity of a universe without God
2
Is Christianity True?
To ascertain this question we must first defined what Christianity is.Christianity is a story which
portrays God’s struggle to reconcile Man back to his original or intended purpose of creation
i.e,being co partners with God.It is unique in the sense from other beliefs owing to the fact that
God was trying to gauge the gap between himself and the rest of humanity. It is by no means a
religion as it wasnt an idea founded on an ordinary man’s dreams or revelation about a deity. If we
can verify Christ Resurrection as true then it is without a shadow of a doubt certain that Jesus is
God objectively.Since we cant prove Jesus resurrection directly we can however come up with
other means to prove the occurrence of the most significant event in all of human history
1)Historical Evidence all but confirms the narrative of Jesus’s actual existence
2)History suggest that unlike watergate, christians and especially the apostles were so convinced
in Jesus’s resurrection that they were relentless in their belief in spite facing inhumane
persecution
3)By logic we could deduce jesus claim to being a deity an example being as follows:
Premise b)Jesus was neither a liar or a lunatic(Even Richard Dawkins conceded this fact praising
Jesus for being a good moral compass and the most influential philosopher during that time)
By other logical schematics we could come up with other proofs for both the existence of God
and Jesus’s identity
4) Last but not the least is living in accordance to the new found hope we have in Jesus. This is
by far one of the most powerful means in order to prove the sanctity of Christianity. What better
way to prove God’s existence than to exemplify Christ character and love to everyone around us
,for Jesus himself commanded his followers to be a light and an example to the entire world.

Conclusion
As modern man continually tries to belittle God's existence he is amusingly creating his own
demise. If we do not take a stand against the religious diatribes who claim with impunity that
religion needs to be extinguished then we can be afraid of the prospect that our world might
one day spiral into a frenzy of hopeless clump of cells pillaging and destroying each other just
for the mere assurance of survival for another day.It is therefore our obligation to propagate a
glimmer of hope in an ever darkening world but not for the trivial reason for thwarting anarchy
,but for the truthfulness in which this hope is grounded upon.
