Consider the skills listed below and rate how important you think each skill is for employment and how competent you are in this skill.
Consider how each of these skills may enhance your performance, and allow you to develop and advance further. You may wish to discuss
these with your advisor of studies. Alternatively, you may wish to ask a friend or family member, and to compare and discuss your separate
findings.
Once you have rated yourself, multiply the number in the column marked ‘Competence’ with that in the column ‘Job Importance’. So, for
example, if you feel that you are not very proficient in verbal and written communication (i.e. you have rated your competence at 4), but that
these skills are very important for employment (i.e. you have rated it at 5), then your overall total score would be 5 X 4 = 20.

me a job in the past and I now hope gets me a place at

Verbal:

1. Ability to reference I plan to develop this skill by researching how to properly format references in either harvard or Vancouver
materials using an referencing styles. I will also start by using websites which guide you though how to reference in these ways and
appropriate system, even help to produce examples when a link is put into them, this will then allow me to learn how to reference like
e.g., Harvard or this by doing it as well as reading about it.

2. Ability to supervise I plan to develop this skill by getting involved in more group activities as a leader as this will allow to practice
or direct work of supervising others in a practical way. Also i will ask people at my industrial placement about supervision and how
others to do it effectively as they will do this every day.
3. Ability to take notes, I plan to develop this skill by taking more notes during general lessons instead of mainly just when assignments
organise them, and are being given out, this will then allow me to use the notes in lesson as a source of information for my
integrate them with assignment. Also i will again ask people at my industrial placement for help with this as they will have to take lots
other sources of of notes during things like meetings.

● At industrial placement i do many things without being asked and do not wait around for someone to tell me to work/what to do.

writing a personal statement.
● Educational Development: At the end of my first year at college i revied my progress in order to see what i need to do in the second
