Get in the
Christmas Spirit
Since 2016, The Rotary Club of Bacchus Marsh has been selling
Christmas Trees as a community fundraiser with the Bacchus Marsh
SES Unit. For the first two weekends in December, members of
both organisations come together to sell freshly cut, locally grown
Christmas trees to the residents of Bacchus Marsh and Districts. Past
funds donated by Rotary to SES have been substantial, assisting most
recently in the purchase of Bacchus Marsh SES Unit’s latest search
and rescue motorbike (as pictured).

A hidden number plate alerted police to an outstanding warrant, and an appearance in the
Bacchus Marsh Magistrate court before Magistrate Gregory Robinson.
The court heard on Friday 8 November that Jacob Lambrou was travelling along Grey Street
Darley when he was intercepted by police, due to them not being able to see the vehicles
number plates.
Prosecutor Senior Constable Helen Farmer told the court that checks were conducted on the
accused’s licence and found he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
When interviewed by police at the Bacchus Marsh police station, Lambrou said he “was
working [the day of his hearing], I missed the court date, I clearly forgot.”
The reason for his earlier court date was due to failing a preliminary oral fluid test when
intercepted by police on Grant street Bacchus Marsh back on 16 July 2017.
Lambrou was convicted and fined an aggregate sum of $750 and $127.40 in statutory costs.
He was disqualified from driving for a period of three-months.
