4 FIRST AID MEASURES

4.1 Description of First Aid Measures
General advice
Consult a physician. Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.

Inhalation : Remove to fresh air. If rapid recovery does not occur,

transport to nearest medical facility for additional
treatment.
Skin Contact : Wash with soap and water. Consult a physician.
Eye Contact : Flush eye with copious quantities of water. Consult a
physician.
Ingestion : If swallowed, do not induce vomiting; transport to
nearest medical facility for additional treatment.
4.2 Most important symptoms/effects, acute & delayed
Lung irritation, chest pain, pulmonary edema, inhalation studies on toluene have
demonstrated the development of inflammatory and ulcerous lesions of the penis, prepuce,
and scrotum in animals.
4.3 Indication of immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
No data available

5 FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Clear fire area of all non-emergency personnel.
5.1 Extinguishing Media
Foam, water spray or fog. Dry chemical powder, carbon dioxide.
5.2 Special hazards arising from substance or mixture
Carbon oxides
5.3 Advice for fire-fighters
Wear full protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus.

Additional Advice:
Keep adjacent containers cool by spraying with water.

6 ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Avoid contact with spilled or released material. For guidance on selection of personal
protective equipment see Chapter 8 of this Material Safety Data Sheet. See Chapter 13 for
information on disposal. Observe the relevant local and international regulations. Evacuate the
area of all non-essential personnel. Ventilate contaminated area thoroughly.
6.1 Personal precautions, Protective Equipment and Emergency Procedures
Use personal protective equipment. Do not breathe fumes, vapour. Ensure adequate
ventilation. Remove all sources of ignition. Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Beware of
vapours accumulating to form explosive concentrations. Vapours can accumulate in low
areas.
6.2 Environmental Precautions
Shut off leaks, if possible without personal risks. Remove all possible sources of ignition in
the surrounding area. Prevent from spreading or entering drains, ditches or rivers.
6.3 Methods and material for Containment and Clean Up
Collect spillage with an electrically protected vacuum cleaner or wet-brushing in to a labeled,
sealable container for product recovery or safe disposal. Allow residues to evaporate or soak
up with an appropriate absorbent material and dispose of safely. Remove contaminated soil
and dispose of safely. Shovel into a suitable clearly marked container for disposal or
reclamation in accordance with local regulations.

7 HANDLING AND STORAGE

General Precautions:
Avoid breathing vapours or contact with material. Only use in well ventilated areas. Wash
thoroughly after handling. For guidance on selection of personal protective equipment see
Chapter 8 of this Material Safety data Sheet. Use the information in this data sheet as input to
a risk assessment of local circumstances to help determine appropriate controls for safe
handling, storage and disposal of this material. Air-dry contaminated clothing in a well-
ventilated area before laundering. Properly dispose of any contaminated rags or cleaning
materials in order to prevent fires. Prevent spillages. Use local exhaust ventilation if there is
risk of inhalation of vapours, mists or aerosols. Never siphon by mouth. Contaminated leather
articles including shoed cannot be decontaminated and should be destroyed to prevent reuse.
For comprehensive advice on handling, product transfer, storage and tank cleaning refer to
the product supplier.
7.1 Precautions for Safe Handling
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid inhaling vapour and/or mists. Electrostatic charges
may be generated during pumping. Electrostatic discharge may cause fire. Extinguish any
naked flames. Do not smoke. Remove ignition sources. Avoid sparks. Earth all equipment.
7.2 Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Store in cool place. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place.
Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent
leakage.
7.3 Specific End Uses

8.2 Exposure Controls
General Information:
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wash hands before
breaks and at the end of workday.

Personal Protective Equipment

Personal protective equipment (PPE) should meet recommended national standards. Check
with PPE suppliers.
Eye Protection : Face shield and safety glasses. Use equipment for eye
protection tested and approved under appropriate
government standards such as NIOSH (US) or EN 166
(EU)
Hand Protection : Handle with gloves. Gloves must be inspected prior to
use. Use proper glove removal technique (without
touching glove’s outer surface) to avoid skin contact
with this product. Dispose of contaminated gloves after
use in accordance with applicable laws and good
laboratory practices. Wash and dry hands.
Body Protection : Complete suit protecting against chemicals, Flame
retardant antistatic protective clothing. The type of
protective equipment must be selected according to
the amount of the dangerous substance at the specific
workplace.

Respiratory Protection : Where risk assessment shows air-purifying respirators

are appropriate use a full-face respirator with multi-
purpose combination (US) or type ABEK (EN 14387)
respirator cartridges as a backup to engineering
controls. If the respirator is the sole means of
protection, use a full-face supplied air respirator. Use
respirators and components tested and approved
under appropriate government standards such as
NIOSH (US) or CEN (EU).
