1. Getting Started
Welcome to the KAI Node Installer Guide. This guide primarily describes the steps to
installing and configuring the KAI Node4 with KAI Unified Platform (KAI UP) as well as
references to Appendix E to describe the steps to installing and configuring the KAI Node1.

Prerequisites
 User Account Registering Information (From KAI UP Administrator)

 Accessed and checked network configurations on site

 Completed installations of supported cameras (Refer to the respective Appendix)

 Display Monitor (with VGA input), USB Mouse, Keyboard and Internet Connectivity

Let’s get started!

2. Camera Installation Guidelines

For the analytics to perform their functions optimally, it is important that the cameras are
installed according to the analytics required.

The important factors to take note are as follow:

Mounting Location and Feasibility

Height of camera

Angle of View

Field of View

Lighting Conditions and variable environmental factors

Distance to the network point (to be within theoretical working length of a LAN cable)

A detailed guide to the above information is available in “Appendix B – Camera and VCA
Installation Guide”.

3. Node Initial Settings

To start configuring the KAI Node4, ensure that the Node
is connected to the Internet and powered up. You
should see the Registration page. If this is the first time
this KAI Node is being deployed, you will need to
configure and register the KAI Node first.

Before proceeding with the registration, the “Node Settings” will need to be properly
configured first.

Refer to “Appendix E - KAI Node1 Installer Guide” for the initial settings for KAI Node1.

5
KAI Node Installer Guide

Node Settings

Click on “Node Setting” to set the Network, Cloud and TimeZone configurations for your KAI
Node.

Select the appropriate “TimeZone Settings” for the location Node is based in.

Under the “Cloud Address” section, enter the KAI UP address provided by your service
provider. You may be prompted that the Node will need to restart to save this setting.

6
KAI Node Installer Guide

Next, configure the network for your KAI Node under “Network Setting”.

The default DHCP should have an IP address assigned. Select “Static IP” to make the DHCP
assigned IP into a static IP for the node. Write this down in your Delivery Order / Service
Report.

You may have to seek the assistance of the site’s Network Administrators if no DHCP address
is assigned or if you face any issues with the network.

Click on “save” to save and auto restart KAI Node with your settings.

If the KAI Node is correctly connected to the network and powered up, Internet connectivity
and connection to the KAI UP Server should be established.

7

Firmware Update
The “Maintenance” tab shows the current version of the Node. Perform an “Upgrade by USB”
(if you have the updates in a removable storage) by clicking on the button under the
“Firmware Update” section.

 It is strongly recommended to upgrade to the latest version using the “Upgrade by USB”
before registering the node.

8
KAI Node Installer Guide

This page explains the functions of the other available options in “Node Settings”
-> “Maintenance” and is NOT part of the typical installation.

 Node Operation

 Factory Reset: Restore the Node back to factory defaults. This also unregisters the
Node from its Bucket.

 Restart: Click on “Restart” to restart software services on your KAI node.

 Export Logs: Use this function to export logs for troubleshooting.

 Device

 Reboot: Reboot device

 Shutdown: Shutdown Device
