2 Installing AC Input and Output Power Cables

DANGER
1. bL indicates bypass input, mL indicates mains input.
2. Connect UPS AC input and output power cables in the same phase sequence. Connect the
battery terminals correctly.
3. Before connecting cables, ensure that the input circuit breaker, output circuit breaker, and
battery circuit breaker are OFF. Perform all tasks with the power off.
4. When the AC input or AC output changed, for details about how to change the input or output
system, contact Huawei technical support. Do not power on the UPS directly.
5. If the input or output system changes, ensure the correct short-circuit copper bar status and
cable connections are applied to the input and output ports.
6. Torque an M6 bolt on short-circuit busbars and for ground cable to 2.8 N•m and torque an M5
bolt of UPS to 2.8 N•m.
7. In a single UPS system, connect loads to AC OUTPUT sL and pL terminals. Connect primary
loads to the sL terminal and secondary loads to the pL terminal. In a parallel system, connect
loads to the AC OUTPUT pL terminal, instead of the sL terminal.
8. The UPS is a large leakage current device. Do not configure a circuit breaker that has the
leakage current protection function. If you need leakage current protection function, use the
earth leakage circuit breaker recommended.
9. Install short-circuit busbars and cables for AC INPUT first and then for AC OUTPUT.

terminals 1 and 2 are short-
circuited, the inverter stops,
and the bypass mode is
disabled. In this way, the
UPS stops supplying power
immediately.

6 Installing Parallel Cables for a Parallel system

UPS 2 UPS 1 UG08009984

7 Verifying the Installation

1. Refer to chapter 6 "Verifying the Installation" in installation a single UPS, to check each UPS in
the parallel system before power-on.
2. Check that the parallel communications cables are properly connected. Ensure that the UPSs
in the parallel system have the same output voltage.

8 Powering On and Starting the UPS

NOTICE
Before starting the parallel system, do not start loads.

23
8.1 Powering On the UPS
Start

Check that the UPS has passed all check items described
in chapter 7 "Verifying the Installation".

Close the external battery circuit breakers (if there are).

No: Start the UPS
in battery mode.
Start the UPS in normal mode? Press

Yes
Close the general AC input circuit breaker (K, Km, Kb) and
the branch circuit AC input breakers (K1, Km1, Kb1, K2,
Km2, Kb2) based on site requirements.

Close the branch AC output circuit breakers (Q1, Q2)

Check that the voltage is normal.

End

8.2 Setting Key UPS Parameters and Starting the UPS to Inverter Mode
1. Set the Language (default: English), System Parameters, and Battery Parameters for each
UPS in the parallel system. For details, see 7.2 Setting Key UPS Parameters and Starting the
UPS to Inverter Mode in installation a single UPS.
2. Set the parallel mode and the number of redundant UPSs.

NOTICE
1. Before starting the inverters, ensure that parallel parameters are synchronized. For details
about the parallel parameters, see the UPS2000-G-(6 kVA-20 kVA) User Manual.
2. Performing "startup operations" consecutively on UPS 1 to UPS n causes them to start. If
you do not perform "startup operations" on the other UPSs in 5 minutes, UPS 1 to UPS n
enter normal mode and the other UPSs supply no power.

3. If no alarm is displayed on the Monitoring screen, continue with the subsequent operations. If an
alarm is displayed, refer to the alarm list to locate and clear the alarm.
4. Check that the bypass input is normal and the system has transferred to bypass mode. You can
confirm this by viewing the system running diagram on the LCD.

24
5. Perform "startup operations" on each UPS: On the standby screen, hold down for more than
5 seconds. Release the button when you hear a beep sound. The startup screen is displayed.
After the UPS starts successfully, it enters normal mode.
6. After the system runs properly, close the UPS AC output circuit breaker Q to start loads in the
case of a single UPS system. In the case of a parallel system, close the general output circuit
breaker and branch output circuit breakers to start loads.

9 Shutting down the UPS

9.1 Shutting down a UPS in a Parallel System

NOTE
Perform "shutdown operations" to shut down the UPS. On the default screen, hold down ESC
for more than 5 seconds. Release the button when you hear a beep tone. The inverter shuts
down. If the bypass voltage is within the configured range, the UPS transfers to bypass mode.
If the bypass voltage is beyond the configured range, the UPS has no output.

1. Perform "shutdown operations" (for details, see page 9) twice on a UPS in the parallel system
within 30 seconds. The UPS shuts down and enters the non-output state (the mains, bypass, and
battery indicators are off). The other UPSs keep working.
2. Open the upstream AC input circuit breaker (K1, Km1, Kb1 or K2, Km2, Kb2) for the UPS based on
site requirements, the UPS AC output circuit breaker Q1.
3. Open the external battery circuit breakers (if there are) or disconnect battery cables for the UPS.
The UPS exits the parallel system. After all indicators on the UPS turn off and fans stop, the UPS
shuts down.

9.2 Transferring a Parallel System to Bypass Mode

Perform "shutdown operations" on each UPS in the parallel system. All inverters shut down at the
same time, and the parallel system transfers to bypass mode. If the bypass voltage is beyond the
configured range, the UPS has no output.

9.3 Powering Off a Parallel System

1. Shut down loads.
2. Perform "shutdown operations" on each UPS in the parallel system. All inverters shut down at the
same time, and the parallel system transfers to bypass mode. If the bypass voltage is beyond the
configured range, the UPS has no output.
3. Open the branch AC input circuit breaker (K1, Km1, Kb1, K2, Km2, Kb2), the general AC input circuit
breaker (K, Km, Kb), the branch AC output circuit breaker (Q1, Q2), and the general AC output
circuit breaker Q for the UPS system based on site requirements.
4. Open the external battery circuit breakers (if there are) or disconnect the battery cables for each
UPS. After all indicators turn off and fans stop, the UPSs shut down, and loads power off.
