TECHNICAL STUDY

4.1 OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

 To assess possible location and strategically choose the facility location

that fits the production plant of the company.

 To show the full process of Fork Hoe.

 To know the production capacity or the ability of the workers produce.

 To choose the most economical machines and equipment.

 To create Plant Layout for the process of Ergonomic Fork Hoe.

4.2 PRODUCT

Ergonomic Fork Hoe

This Hoe is designed ergonomically with human factor perspective that let the

farmer/gardener lessen the impact on your back, knees, wrist, hand and your arms

reducing the risk of work related injuries for the person doing the task. Improves work

efficiency and increases the person’s satisfaction in doing their task.

4.2.1 DESCRIPTION AND USES OF THE PRODUCT

USES

 Use to shallow trenches for planting seeds.

 Use for digging narrow furrows (drilling).

 Also to shape soil before planting seeds.

 Use for harvesting like root crops.

 Use in cultivating soil.

 Use in removing weeds in the garden.

DESCRIPTION

 Having a rubber handle that is soft firm and thick enough to be comfortable.

 Non-slip grips and weather proof materials.

 It has a handle that let your hands, arms, legs work together giving maximum

leverage with least amount of effort.

 Long handle designed for reducing stress on wrist and helps prevent muscle and

joint fatigue for gardener.

4.3 MANUFACTURING PROCESS

The table below shows the process of Ergonomic Fork Hoe. It explains that every

standard time of each process produces different parts of the product depends on the sizes

of galvanized steels or steels.

4.4 PRODUCTION SCHEDULE

For the production schedule, the company would have one shift per day, from 8 A.M.

to 5 P.M. including a 1 hr. lunch break. While the operations chart shown below is

provided to show the capacity of the workers per process that is significant in scheduling

the production of the Fork Hoe. The standard time used per operation was based on the

manufacturing process of the product.

4.5 MACHINE, EQUIPMENT AND ACCESSORIES

Capacity Estimates

For the Plant Capacity

Working Hours = 8hrs/day

= 480 mins /day X 52 hoes /hr divided by 60 mins = 416 hoes per day

For Monthly Capacity

= 416 hoes/day X 20 days of working/month = 8320 hoes/month

For Annual Capacity

=8320 hoes/month X 12 months (1 year) = 99, 840 hoes / year.

Design Capacity

= 52 hoes/hr X 8 hrs = 416 hoes/day

Effective Capacity

=416 hoes / day – (52 fork hoes / hr) (1.5 hrs/day) = 338 hoes / day.

Actual Capacity

= 338 hoes /day – (52 hoes/hr) (1hr/day) = 286 hoes /day

Capacity Utilization

UTILIZATION = ACTUAL OUTPUT/DAY = 286 HOES /DAY = 68.75%

DESIGN CAPACITY 416 HOES/DAY

4.7 RAW MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES

The main materials for fork hoe are galvanized steel and steel. The supplies for

these materials will buy nearly the Plant. Since the materials is available at hardware of

KQW Hardware Gerona, San Antonio and Pura or able to contact the originating supplier

of the hardware in case run out of raw materials of KGW Hardware.

The table below will show the suppliers and price per piece of the components of
