Product Design/Features

The universal power bank is a battery supply for laptops, tablets, smartphones or any
portable gadget that powers up by USB. This device has a new feature which is the device
provide two types to charge the power bank which by solar and USB port. High-speed
charging that required 2-3 hours to fully charged with 3 output ports which are one DC output
and two smart USB output which supports charging two devices at the same time. Besides,
LED screen to display the percentage of the energy remain.

This product consist 60000 mAh super high capacity that can charge cell phone,
tablet and even laptop or notebook. The variants come with this product are 60000 mAh
power bank, charging adapter, Micro USB, laptop changing cable and 8 laptop adaptors.
This product comes with 8 DC adapters, compatible for various kinds of notebooks DC and
USB two input ports, support two self-charging modes. These features help user to charge
all kind of smartphones and laptops brand.

The universal power bank consists of a rectangle base with 6.0 inches long, 4.0
inches width and 1.0 inches height. The weight is 0.8kg which this is chosen because it
small and easier to carry. There are four colours available in these products which are black,
white, blue and grey.

This product contains the intelligent circuit protection which it will automatically go off
when your device is fully charged and this product is safely use because there is SIRIM
certifications. All products that have a SIRIM certificate can make consumers trust with their
products. The products that have SIRIM certificate is shown to consistently manufacture with
quality, safety and reliability. Since this product is using electrical and solar technology, the
safety of the product has to take as an important thing to avoid the consumers will face an
electric shock or any hazards.

Most consumers concern about the durability of the product that they want to buy and
questioning how long the certain product can last. The average life span for this product is
three to five years. However, many power banks can last longer than the average life span.
Next, the duration of battery life is also important for consumers but it is not a big part for
consumers’ buying decision. Most of battery life of the power bank can be used two times
charging after being charged. Normally, the more expensive the power bank, the more the
battery life can last. Furthermore, this product can be used up to five years with one year
warranty if it used properly based on the guideline provided during the purchase.

CONCEPT TESTING

Concept testing is one of test before launching the product in the market for a newest
product designed. For our company, the process of using quantitative method by
questionnaire is used to evaluate consumers’ response about this product idea towards
market. In other hand, concept testing helps to improve the product itself.

Concept Testing Process


• The purpose of the concept testing
The main purpose of this testing is to identify the customer’s acceptance and the feedback
on function, design, durability and range price of universal power bank. It is also to know the
potential market and real scenario that will faced in the future.

• The survey population


The targeted population in order to complete the concept testing is students or workers
especially someone that loved and always go to travel. This is because this universal power
bank had all criteria that needed for traveller such as in terms of size. Mostly their estimated
age is from 18 years old and above.

• The survey formats


Before launching the real product to the market, the company make a survey which is by
doing the questionnaire and distribute to the aimed population. The survey is done by using
online questionnaire for 12 respondents with different backgrounds. There are 14 questions
that asked in the questionnaire which are divided into 4 sections. Section A is stands for
qualification, section B stand for product description, section C stands for concept testing
while in section D is about marketing testing.

• The customer response


Most of the respondents are in age 18-30 years old and they also gave a good response
towards the online questionnaire. The respondents also had chosen a few improvements to
add at the product and also the range that suitable on pricing the product. This is a huge
opportunity for the company to improve universal power bank and make it as one of the well-
known innovative products.
• Interpret the result
The result will interpret into four sections which is same like the section in the online
questionnaire. There are many types of chart used for illustrated these results but the
company only take a few important questions that need to highlight in this concept testing for
helps to increase the quality of the product.

SECTION A: QUALIFICATION

We classified this age range with four range because for age range 13-17 years old are child
on secondary school, for 18-30 years old are a young adult, for 31-60 years old are middle-
aged adults and 61 and above are old-aged adults. Based on the pie chart, the most of our
respondents are around 18-30 years old and the least is around 31-60 years old.

Most of respondents do not have smartphones power bank. The pie chart above shows 7
respondents do not have smartphones power bank while 5 respondents have their own
smartphones power bank.

Most of respondents do not familiar laptop power bank. Based on the pie chart above, it
shows that 11 respondents do not familiar with power bank while one respondent familiar
with laptop power bank.
SECTION B: PRODUCT DESIGN/FEATURES

Since most of our respondents which 58.3% expect the capacities are 30001 mAh and
above. Therefore, we can conclude that the respondents want the highest capacities to
support devices. Thus, 33.3% want the capacities for this product is between 20001 mAh
until 30000 mAh. 8.4% of respondents hope the capacities this product is 10001 mAh until
20000 mAh.

Based on Figure 10 has showed the 50% want only laptop and smartphones can be charged
by this product and 41.7% want many device can be charged by this power bank product.
The lowest percentage want this product can charge only smartphones abd tablets.

Based on Figure 11 has showed the range of the time that respondents willing to wait for the
product. The highest range is more than six hours and majority of the respondents want this
product is fuly charged by 3-4 hours and 5-6 hours with 33.3% of the respondents.Next,
25% want 1-2 hours this product is fully charged. Only a few of them want this product is
fully charged by 6 hours and above.
SECTION C: PRODUCT CONCEPT

The pie chart on Figure shows the lists concerns of the product concept that the
respondents look for. In 41.7% respondents choose safety as an important thing in concern
of the product concept. Next, there are 33.3% respondents thought that price and 25%
respondents choose capacities of the power bank before bought it.

The pie chart on Figure 13 shows the highest percentage which 41.7% understand and
moderately understanding about this product purpose. And 8.3% are strongly understand
and do not understand.
