NOTES

TITLING FOR FIGURES AND TABLES

 Should be centered
 Numbered in chronological order per chapter (will
not restart numbering even the subchapter starts,
for example, you are now working with Chapter III
and you started working with a table on
subchapter a, the table will still be numbered as
“Table 3.1” followed by the title of the table. This
goes also when working on Figures.
 Title of figures should be placed below the figure;
titles for tables should be placed above the table.

1. To analyze the structure using STAAD;

2. To apply various techniques taught during the
whole lecture;
3. To apply loads on the given locations on members;
4. To compute for maximum deflection on all axes;
5. To compute for the maximum compressive force
per member section property; Figure 2.1. Isometric View of the Target Structure

b. Analysis Method SECTION DETAILS

The given figure is a three-dimensional truss. This truss is R SECTION MATERIAL

supported by two pins and two rollers located on left and 1 W200X27

right ends of the truss, respectively. The truss is a Pratt- 2 W200X100

4 W250X101
vertical chords (W250X80), bracings (W200X27),
5 W310X60
crossbeams (W200X100), and girders (W310X60). It is
subjected to various nodal loads given also in Figure 2.1.

BRACINGS In this activity, I have gained new techniques to work with

STAAD Pro masterfully. Exercising our learned
Beams 20, 23, 43, & 46 Beams 18, 21, 41, & 44

gaining new skills in advanced application in the field of

civil engineering.

The mirror option from the geometry menu helped me

to half my time in creating the structure easily. It may have
many nodes and members but plotting half of it is not
that hard because the other half can be mirrored.

Having a huge library of sections makes it easier to be

used in STAAD Pro because you don’t have to even to
calculate for its dimensions and manually plot its section
coordinates.

Lastly, STAAD Pro is very helpful when it comes to the

computation. STAAD Pro can give results that are in exact
values of anything needed to analyze the structure
carefully and with precision
