Loading the Data

1. Load the angle stacks

through the Import Seismic
menu of the Seismic tab.

2
Loading the Data

2. Find and select

the stack files.

3
Loading the Data
3. Follow the standard
loading parameters.

4
The Seismic Loaded
After the loading is completed, you will see the loaded volumes.

Near Stack Mid Stack Far Stack

5
The Seismic Data Explorer

4. Open the Seismic Data Explorer tab and click

the Options button at the bottom of the window.

5. To convert the angle stacks to

angle gathers, we must assign a
central angle to each volume.
Choose Options > Create a
Gather from Stacked Volumes.

6
The Group Name and Data Domain

6. Create a new Group Name

and set the Domain. Click
Next.

7
The Data Format

C. Choose the SEG-Y file to be

added to the new group.

7. If the angle information is in byte 37,

choose the top option.
If not, then:
A. choose Specify user defined
angles.
B. Select Set Volumes.

8
The Data Format: Setting Angles
D. Make sure the near angle is on the top of the
list and is followed by the mid and far angle
volumes.
If they are not in the correct order, use the Move
buttons at the bottom of the dialog to adjust their
positions.

E. Then type the central angel for each volume

into the Angle box on the left.

F. When finished,
click Next.

F. Check the Information

Box and then click
Finish.

9
Go back to the Seismic Data Explorer tab and verify
the new group is loaded as an Angle Gather

9. Return to the Seismic Data Explorer tab and verify that the new group is
loaded as an Angle Gather.

10
Build an Initial Model

10. On the Processes menu, select Strata Model >

Build Strata Model.
11. Select a Pre-stack Model, name it, and select
all the wells and the horizons.
12. Click OK.

11
Generate the Model
If you want to see just the impedances, click the
Eyeball icon and set the General parameters as
shown below.

12
Generate a Pre-Stack Inversion

13. From the Processes menu,

select Inversion > Inversion >
Pre-stack Inversion Analysis.
14. Set the parameters as shown
on the right and click Change
Wavelets.

13
The Wavelets

15. Check that the wavelets

selected as active and the
assigned central angles are
correct. Then close this dialog.

14
The Well Log Parameters

16. On the Pre-stack

Parameters tab, click Well
data cross plot to check
the effectiveness of the log
relationships.

17. Continue with defaults and

edit the parameters as
needed for your data set.
15
The Analysis Window
18. When the analysis window appears, compare the real and inversion trace for quality control.

This processes is iterative. You

can change a few parameters to
see the new inversion results.

16
Generate the Inversion Volume

19. When you are satisfied with the Inversion Analysis,

select Inversion > Process > Pre-stack
Inversion to generate the actual Inversion
Volume.

17
The Complete Pre-Stack Inversion

The default output of the pre-stack

inversion is several rock property
volumes. These volumes can not
be cross plotted and compared to
your well logs.
