Heizleistung eingeschattet,

Important instructions: Read these operating instructions carefully before initial operation of the device.
For security reasons, the device must only be used for purposes described in these instructions. This pro-
duct is subject to a constant adjustment to the state of art. In spite of the utmost accuracy it could be pos-
sible that these operating instructions do not describe the device's characteristics to its full extent, In case
of doubt, please consult our technical department.1 Operating Instructions
‘The main area of application for the Laboratory Hot PLate is the heating of aqueous solutions without com-
ustible components in glass vessels. Because the appliance will become very hot in the inside and on the
CERAN? surface, all other uses require careful review to determine whether a potentially dangerous situa-
tion can result thereby.
Betore connection to power supply, please check whether data on name-plate are consistent with line vol-
tage. Controller allows infinately variable adjustment of the heating capacity from 1 (minimum heating ca-
pacity) to 12 (maximum heating capacity).
‘The Laboratory Hot Plate is switched on by tuming the control knob to the right and setting the desired
heat
The Laboratory Hot Plate has a litle red lamp showing the remaining heat. As long as the lamp shines, the
switched off hot plate remains hot and its oneray can be used. The lamp only indicates as fong as the main
plug is connected. it switches off when the heat has sufficiently cooled down. After work turn off the tabora-
{ory hot plate or pull the plug.
2 Cleaning
CERAN? giass-ceramics is chemically substantially resistant. The heating panel always remains plane; itis.
non porous and very easy to clean. Slightly contaminated ERAN? can be best cleaned just with warm
water to which some drops of a household detergent have been added, while itis stil lukewarm or cooled
off already.
Remove crusis, chalk and water rings as well as iridescent metallic stains with usual household cleaning
materials for cookers with CERAN® heating surfaces. Please remove any remaining cleaning materials
‘thoroughly with a damp cloth or sponge because some cleaning materials found on the market have a cor-
rosive effect at higher temperatures. If contamination has already formed crusts, a razor blade seraper
‘Should be taken to hand. Plastic objects and aluminium fcil as well as material containing sugar must be
removed immediately if they land on hot surfaces.
‘As a mechanical ald may be used: razor-blade scrapers, non-scratching sponges, non-scratching steel
wool.
3 Warnings and safety instructions
For safety and functional reasons, the Laboratory Hot Plate may be opened only by authorized persons;
‘e.g. work at the electric appliance must only be carried out by trained specialists. With unautherized opera-
tion of the device as well as careless or deliberate damaging, the warranty is no longer void.
“The Laboratory Hot Plate meets the requirements of Protective Class |. It has been built and tested in ac-
cordance with DINVDE 0700 Part 1/04.88 (HD 251S3 and Changes 1-3) and DIN VDE 0700
Part 6/1 1.89 (HD 275 S1, Change 1) in connection with the draft of DIN VDE 0700 Part 6A8/04.89, Pro-
teclive Measures for Electric Heating Appliances. It has left the factory in perfect technical and safety
related condition. In order to preserve this condition and ensure operation without danger, the user must
‘observe the notices and warnings which are contained in these operating instructions.
Before switching on, its to be ensured that the operating voltage set on the Laboratory Hot Plate and the
network voltage are in agreement. The network plug connector may only be introduced into a socket with @
protective contact. The protective effect may not be nulified through the use of an extension cable without
& protective conductor. Any interruption ofthe protective conductor within or external to the Laboratory Hot
Plate or the loosening of the protective conductor connection can lead to a situation in which the Laborato-
ty Hot Plate represents a danger. Intentional interruption is not allowed.Attention must be paid to ensure that the connection cables do not come into contact with the hot (cooking)
plate or other hot objects.
A bultin automatic excess temperature protection ensures that there can never ocour any overheating of
the CERAN’ hot plate, even under permanent load. Only those spots are heated which are marked by the
décor, The adjacent areas remain relatively cold.
By simply pushing cookers out of the heated area and into the colder adjacent areas, the cooking process
can rapidly be interrupted,
If cracks, fissures or fractures occur in the CERAN® heating plate and if there is a reason to believe that
nen-dangerous operation is not possible, the Laboratory Hot Plate should be stopped and secured against
Unnitial operation.
CAUTION: Flammable materials and combustible organic substances, such as combustible solvents, may
not be heated openly!
The surface of the Laboratory Hot Plate will become so hot that materials which are difficult to ignite under
normal circumstances, such as overheated fats and cils, can ignite. The heating of such materials may
take place only under special supervision.
Should the Laboratory Hot Plate be used outside of the laboratory, such as in an office, workshop or
household, it must be observed that the dangers typical for this type of room can be caused by the device.
The top surface of heating and cocking appliances gets very hot in operation. For this reason, exercise
caution and keep away children, especially small children, from the Laboratory Hot Plate in principle,
Prepare food with fat or oil (e.g. French fries) only under supervision. The preparation of food in aluminium
{oil oF plastic containers on the hot cooking zone is not allowed.
Do not use the Laboratory Hot Plate as a storage place and for deposing objects.
When in use, the Laboratory Hot Plate must not be placed in small furniture niches.
The Laboratory Hot Plate may never be submerged into water.
Sately considerations require that the Laboratory Hot Plate may be used only for the purposes described in
this operating instructions manual.4 Properties of CERAN” glass-ceramics

1 Fonctionnement
voisines restent relativement froides.
