Online Hotel Reservation System.

2 Introduction
A hotel reservation system is a processing of secure online reservations which is made through a
hotel’s website.

A Hotel Reservation System is an essential part of every hotel. It provides a platform for
hoteliers to manage their reservations efficiently. These systems also help to accelerate direct
bookings and increase revenue. The customer given data is passed onto a backend system which
can be accessed by hotels to manage bookings. Remaining features will come with it like the
automation of reservation confirmation email.

It is a web application implemented by hotels to allow guests to create secure and safe online
reservations. It can also sync, not only with the current website but also with facebook. It gives
facilities for guest to reserve rooms in a way that is convenient for them via social media.

In the Hotel business industry growing, hotel managers and owners recognize that technology is
key to growing their business and increasing their booking overtime. For the sell rooms to
capacity and to appeal to a global audience a hotel reservation system is required.

The hotel reservation system is a necessity for nowadays accommodation providers, for both
large and small. In these days many numbers of travellers are relying solely on the online
reservation to book their accommodation, and without the capability. The hotel will lose a
significant amount of business.

3 Problem Statement
The main problem in current online hotel reservation system is that: -

1. Hotel website may not be responsive or attractive

Due to this, those of your visitors who access your website through mobile, tablet or any
such devices will not be able to book with you. Which will lead you to losing bookers
and will bring you no advantage of having a booking engine.

2. Hotel reservation system may have confusing booking interface

Due to this, website visitors will not be directed properly hence would leave your website
half away before finally booking with you.

3. The hotel reservation system may not match hotel standards

The booking engine may not give any freedom in terms of customizing the booking
system with respect to website’s theme or brand aesthetics. Well, this may not hinder the
booking process but does not give a good booking experience either.

4. Problem of understand the language that hotel reservation system works with

Most hotel reservation systems can only be accessed in English. But what if some of your
website visitors don’t understand English?

5. The hotel reservation system may not have a safe payment process

This one can be a very serious problem since the booking engine is not providing any
security of making safe payments. (Well, would you ever pay at a site like this?)

6. Absence of interactive widgets on hotel reservation system

Using interactive widgets at website, you can easily be able to hold your lookers to your
website. Better yet, these widgets can compel your lookers to immediately book with
you. These widgets include welcome box, exit pop-up, floating tool etc. Without these
widgets, the performance of your booking engine will be just mediocre.

7. Hotel reservation system you may be using may not be open for integration with
other solutions

This can be a very serious problem for you if your hotel reservation system cannot be
integrated with the other solutions you be using or you want to use for the advancement
of your hotel business. Due to this, you will either have to switch to another hotel
reservation system or just forget thinking about using those other solutions. Get a
booking engine which is easily integral with other third-party solutions.

4.1 Aim
The aim of my project is to provide secure and real online reservations make through a hotel’s
website.

4.2 Objective
 Efficiency of booking, especially for repeat customers
 Ease of information gathering in support of selecting a hotel
 To provide excellent comparative information about available hotel rooms
 Accurate reliable reservation

5 Literature Review
This chapter is about studies and literatures that are related to the online system that the
proponents made use of different reading materials (such as thesis, articles, and other web
articles) that will help extending the knowledge of the proponents. These reading materials will
also guide the proponent to improve and develop their proposed system more effectively.

1. 658 Apartelle Online Reservation System

Bituin Abi, (August 2010), 658 Apartelle Online Reservation System. Short term base
lodging is the main reason that a hotel has been established. In the Philippines, wherein many
foreign people go and have a vacation, hotel is always their first destination to have
relaxation after long hours of travel in an airplane. Because of the rapid increase of foreigners
visiting the Philippines for a vacation, a common sight is the establishments ad sophisticated
hotels for competitive advantage.

As the result of the competition between different hotels, various business strategies had been
made to attract customers, such as putting discounts, having beautiful and relaxing
environment and above all having a state-of-the-art computer system and facilities. The
current problem observed is the manual guest list records, the manual reservation of guests,
the manual booking of rooms for the guests which takes a long time to accomplish.

Similar to the proponent’s study Altaroca Mountain Resort and Convention Center still uses
manual process of reservation.

2. Boracay Grand Vista Resort and Spa

The Boracay Grand vista Resort and Spa has a web reservation system. It includes the
direction of schedule, reserving facilities and rooms, guest info and confirmation of the
guests if they're absolute to reserve some rooms. Customers don't have to be compelled to
create an account if they want to travel to the resort or to create a reservation.

Similarities of the proposed system includes reserving of the facilities and rooms within the
resort. Unlike the proposed system, the client is needed to form an account in order to create
a reservation or cancel a reservation. Making an account can help the company to create sure

that the customer’s personal info is secured and therefore the company are ready to monitor
the regular customers.

3. Hilton Cebu Resort and Spa

This hotel has an online reservation system that checks if the customer has an existing
reservation. The customer has a confirmation code to enter if they have already a reservation
in this hotel.

The proponents’ system also features a piece of information which may check if the customer
already has an existing account. And making an account will help the customer to cancel or
reschedule their reservation easier.

4. Description with UML Hotel Reservation System (Louw, Door Janne,)

Description with UML Hotel Reservation System. Developed a hotel management system
which will be used online. This system allows the guests to do their booking online by them
self. Some of the task that the system can do are providing a query for arriving date and the
length of staying, providing the number of On rooms, view all available rooms and provides
user the ability to decide on one or a lot of them, recording the number of on rooms, view all
available rooms and provides the user the ability to choose one or more of them, recording
kind of guests and how many going to be in the single room, providing the cost of booking,
asking the users if they want extra service; like, dinner or breakfast, storing the guests detail;
like, name, address and telephone, asking the user for confirmation, final confirmation views
with the detail of booking and also the guests will review or cancel the booking.

The proponents’ system additionally permits the consumer to try and do their booking online
and build transactions by them self. The proponents’ system additionally provides a question
for the coming date and departure date, view all the rooms and let the user choose what kind
of accommodation they want. Unlike UML edifice Reservation System, the proponents’
system doesn't embrace further services; like dinner or breakfast.

 5. Online Reservation for Wilshire Plaza Hotel

The system includes a login account for the customers. The reservation process includes the
arrival and departure date. It also indicates the rooms that area unit still available or not. Then
the client chooses the room/rooms to remain in. the customer also fills-in the guest form and
confirms the reservation. The billing/payment is finished at the hotel upon checking.

Wilshire Plaza Hotel’s system is comparable to the projected system of the proponents. It
also features a login account for the client for them to look at their current and previous
reservations. The customers might select the dates, rooms, amenities, and also the function
rooms they want to order. However, the initial payment and the full payment will be done by
bank transfer and/or credit card.

Nowadays an increasing number of hotels are building their websites to allow to market their
hotels directly to consumers. No franchise chain hotels need a “booking engine” application to
be attached to a hotel website to permit people to book rooms in real-time.

The reservation system gives a uniform booking experience across the online being a robust
responsive solution. In this system it features allows to hotel and hotel chains to easily view the
booking status of the hotel. It also provides centralized access to rates, inventory, and bookings
of all your properties. It comes with various plugins and widgets that help in converting more of
your website lookers into bookers. Go worldwide and interact with guests in the language they
prefer so that they can conveniently book with you.
